According to Snopes, the family was at a Chinese restaurant. The kid was climbing into his seat and fell (with the fork in his hand).

Proper procedure when retrieving dropped fork:
(1) get out of chair
(2) pick up fork
(3) place fork on table
(4) climb back into chair

He was climbing into his seat when he fell with the fork in his hand. Therefore he violated standard procedures.No....he FELL while HOLDING the FORK in his hand...
When I was younger I had a fish hook go through my nose My Dad was casting into the pond, as he drew the pole back I felt the worm hit my face, next thing I know I feel a yank as he tried to cast which set the hook. I bet that was not fun explaining to Mom. We pulled it out with some old pliers in the tackle box. I think I might have been 8 or 9.
