..O.K. first off, don't bash me. I'm posting this for a friend.

And I quote her email:

"My mom has decided to move to an assisted living home and unfortunately cannot take her Bichon, Jacques and must give him away. Jacques is five years old and a sweet dog. He gets along with kids and most other dogs and some cats. However he is diabetic and requires two insulin shots a day. Jacques is used to the shots and doesn't mind getting them. If you or someone you know is willing to take on a special needs dog, please let me know. He's a lovable guy and would make a great companion for his new owners. Mom really does not want to give him up, but has no choice as the home won't let her have him. "

Further information from the grandson "
I too had a diabetic dog needing insulin 2 times a day. If you are interested in the dog please don't let the shots discourage you. It is a very easy process taking literally less than a minute. A $20 vial of insulin at her dosage will last about 2 months. The syringes are roughly the same amount."

If anyone can help or assist in any way pm me. Pls keep in mind I am only a go between.

Aww, I bet she is sad to give up her dog. Don't forget to check local rescues, as well as bichon rescues too. Good luck! (to your friend and their mother).

Yes, he was with an older lady. We saw them there at least 4 or 5 times last year (prior to it getting cold out) on the small dog side.

Well, he's still available folks. Remax's friend didn't work out.

my heart is breaking, melting and dropping. My BF wants a Bichon but he says no. If it was up to me I'd have him in a heartbeat. Le Sigh.

Can you send me a flyer? I always have people looking for smaller dogs...Is someone from your group fostering him?
Can you bring him on Sunday?

Yes, he's being fostered for us. He's going to be a hard placement due to his diabetic needs. I haven't met him yet, so we probably won't bring him Sunday until he settles in from this move.

I do have a Maltipoo, but can't bring her yet either as she has kennel cough...urgh....

Ernie goes to his new home this Saturday :frown: so I'm not quite sure who I'm going to bring (I'm going to miss him...)

Jacques is a loving guy. He'll settle quick. I had no idea ya'll were fostering him. I saw Meems at the commisary last weekend and she was all but in tears begging me to take him. I wish I could.... I wish everyone would work harder to keep him around for a month or 2. Who knows, Meems may not like suffolk county NY as it is now vs 50 years ago and move back here...........

We just had the person volunteer this past Saturday, so they are going to give her lessons on how to give the shots. I'm not sure what day we are getting him, just that he will be safe soon.
