When you buy tires they have those little rubber nubs on the tire.. the ones nearest the outside of the tread are the chicken strips.. You can find a LOT of bikes with wore out tires, with the chicken strips still intact. Tires last longer if you spread out the wear thoughout the entire tread.
:notworthy Ahhh, thanks. Now I understand. That also explains why Pete didn't know...Harley's scratch the chrome if they lean over :lmao:

Update: I PASSED! I got three points off on the skills test while doing the figure 8...I made the turn with room to spare turning to the left and then went over the line turning to the right. I could do it in the initial practice session and then the same thing happened every time in the second practice session. I'll pick up my base stickers sometime this week (they only need ths MSF card) and then get my license on Friday (CWS).

My new coworkers are going to Sturgis...

My 31 degree lean angle is just fine by me. :lmao: But Bob is correct, you should spread the tire wear out sooooo starting tomorrow you either have to zig zag feverishly while you ride or use your odemeter and lean your bike for a mile while hanging off the other side, then switch sides and lean the other way for a mile. :yay:

I spend as much time at extreme angles as I do straight up.. it's all about road choice, and my SHORT commute is ALL nice corners..

:thewave: Congrats. The figure 8 is hard. I aced that but had points taken off in the quick stop, which is much more important than doing a figure 8 IMO.

This is hilarious! I have a friend who had 2 BMWs, one replaced under the lemon law and the second one bought back under the lemon law. He now owns a Gold wing navi. Lets see, ABS, heated everything, HUGE navi system screen, AIR BAG!! Yes Air bag, but I had to call him up and read it to him. He had a great chuckle. I have to admit it a nice bike though.

He was probably a Harley rider, and thought something was wrong when he had excess horsepower, no noise and a comfortable ride..

I'll have to ask him which model it was my friend had. But apparently they only made it for 2 years. Had too mant problems with this model so they stopped making it. I like all bikes! Even sport bikes. After all it's not the bike that rides like that!!

I'm curious to find out too.. I know they have had some models that flop, but that happens when you are trying to push the envelope, trying different designs, and technologies, putting engines and drivetrains and suspensions out there that nobody else has tried. Most of the times it works, some times it doesn't.

I'll never buy a new model anything.. always wait a model year or two so they can find and fix all the bugs..

Triumph did it right.. when they came back they released in Europe first, took them three years(?) to work out the bugs before they released in the states. The european consumers are a little more forgiving if something isn't perfect..

My friend said his BMW R1200clc. He had lots of electrical issues from what he told me. Back to the phone call. I'm not that good at multitasking hehehehehe.

That's the one BMW they tried to make Harley-esque.. De-tuned so it only produced 60% of the horsepower, etc.. Was a BEAUTIFUL bike.. saw one about two weeks ago, very nice looking bike, but they screwed up trying to unengineer a bike. Didn't catch on either.. was too quiet and smooth to draw in the cruiser type.. And it lasted a couple of years.. I think 2005 or 2004 was the last year.. now they flipped strategy.. now they are shooting for the Jap Sport bike with the new K model, and still focusing on the Sport Touring with the R bike..

Yeah I kinda thought it had a look kinda like a cross between a touring bike and a sport bike. He chose that particular model because it had a couple inches lower seat hieght. Just turned out to have to many problems for him. Don't know if it was a model specific issue or he just got 2 bad apples. He seems really pleased with his Gold wing navi.

I like to tease him saying its too cushy! Truth to be told they are both nice bikes. Just not my taste.

That was hilarious Pete! :killingme

I'll have to print that out and take it to class tomorrow (BTW, did well, one person dropped out already and there's another who I don't think will make it).

Also, I didn't understand this Sport biker one:
6. They're too occupied with trying to get rid of their chicken strips.

Do Sport bikers eat chicken strips a lot or are chicken strips some motorcycle lingo that I don't know yet?

You were so cute before you got all growed up :pinchcheek:

I hadn't seen this, before my time here.... Thanx for digging it up!
