When I was child in California, we had a family of black squirrels in the back yard.

When I worked near the National Cathedral there were black squirrels everywhere. I was told they had been a gift from japan to the Cathedral. I don't know how true it is, but it looks like they are getting around!

Saw two today in the CRE. First time i've ever seen them.

We've seen them when we've stayed at the Bethesda Navy Lodge. At first we actually thought it was a kitten. They are totally cool looking! I'm glad to know there are a few around here.

Speaking of squirrels, we saw some HUGE ones at Saint Mary's State Park today. Not black, light grey, but impressive in size.

I never had seen a black squirrel until I went to New York City. They were everywhere.

Speaking of squirrels...

...my family had to raise two babies because they fell out of their nest. The mother didn't want anything to do with them. We fed them milk and had a bunch of fun until they got a little too big.

It got to the point where you'd walk into their room and they'd instantly cling to your leg with their sharp claws. We built them a bird-house of sorts where they lived for a few years. Every morning for those few years they'd be on the porch waiting for a small snack.

This kinda' sounds like a RodRugg story.:lmao:

We had a bunch in Kent (Ohio) even a great bar named after them. It was odd though because they were only in Kent.
