You need to go see a different doc.. If they don't agressively treat your blood pressure you can end up seriously dead..

:yeahthat:

I was nonchalant about my high BP for years and then a doctor busted me on it and I ended up on meds for it. The doc. just wasn't getting through to me until he explained to me that your heart is like a muscle and is being overworked... just like a bicep muscle when it gets overworked, it (being a muscle) gets bigger and bigger. He said the heart does the same thing as anyother muscle. :ohwell:

Don't get me started.

We've actually been on the prowl for a new family doctor for a while. This week, we're all going to make a trip and get us some checkups.

I always love to see the looks on new people's faces when they put the cuff on me for the first time. "That can't be right... let's try it again."

"Check again Mr. Toxick. Are you sure you're breathing?"

Friend of mine in PA died of High Blood Pressure because her Doc wasn't agressive enough, and once the damage was done there was no going back. Started with kidney problems, moved onto twice a week dialysis, until she made the decision to stop dialysis, and go peacefully..

Yes, I ignored mine too and came close to going that route. I was on disability in 2002 for about 6 weeks because I had waited too late and it had started to affect my kidneys too. Luckily I didn't wait any longer and then when I was not taking the meds, that's when doc. mentioned the heart being a muscle. How old was your friend? female? male?

She was a YOUNG 61, died well before her time.. my daughter loved her, and HAD to go to her funeral.. all she noticed is that she wasn't wearing any earrings, it broke her heart, didn't think it was her without her earrings, her husband ran home and got a pair to put on her... big old gaudy things, just like she wore everyday..

150/100 Not kidding. Even on medication, my BP is outrageous.
Are you taking your own BP at home or are you relying on the reading from the doctor's office? If you are anxious at the doctor's office, that will raise your BP. Get a home BP monitor, have the nurse at the doctor's office make sure you're using it correctly and check your BP at home after sitting quietly 15-20 minutes. Write down the value in a notebook. Do this for about a week and see what the average is.

Not sure if it's diet or whatever - but my wife has amazingly low Blood Pressure. We've talked to doctors about it, but they've said, that unless she's experiencing physical symptoms, such as dizziness, fatigue, etc. then the lower the better. I wouldn't worry about low BP.
You're right. Low blood pressure (especially if it's low in both arms) without symptoms is not a bad sign.
