:bawl: I remember the days when we would fill $1.00 night at the movies, hang out at Carvels and cruise Shopper's World, sitting and chatting with people.

I remember in 83 - 85 cruising Shopper's world. It seemed like the thing to do back then.

We moved to St. Mary's from Frederick. Unless you work on the I270 corridor, don't go to Frederick. Housing is Montgomery Co. crazy prices. The townhouse we sold for $160K 3 years ago now would go for close to $400K. :yikes:

Idea was to wait till I graduate from school and hopefully get a tech job around there, I just hate the idea of moving twice, I want to move and have it done for the rest of my life.

It's really hard to say what one would do in that situation. Panic sets in and people make bad decisions.
Common sense would tell you to keep driving, or better yet, drive to a police station. :yay:

The way they were describing it on the news this morning it sounded like a gang initation. Remember a while back there was a warning about cars driving with out headlights and when some unsupsecting person flashed their lights to let them know they became the target? Could this be the same thing? Scary either way.

This is horrible. I used to drive that stretch everyday until moving to St. Mary's. The police regularly used radar in the mornings on the stretch in front of West Lake where the speed limit drops.

Horrifying story on the News this morning. Smallwood Drive near Westlake High School. Blue Jetta follows a Mom and her kids with its headlights off. They use a spot light on her car. She pulls over and they pull a gun.

This is very close to the same spot where the kid from Bennigans was shot. Luckily they decided there were to many witnesses and fled.

Looking for an article. :shocking:

Arrrgggghhh, I live right there, near the light on Smallwood where that poor guy died. I HATE living here! Hate it! I have a 5 yo little boy, and am by myself. Waldorf seemed like a good place 10 years ago, and I love my little house, but the neighborhood has gone to sh!t and so has the area. Christ, I cannot WAIT to move back to NJ where it is effing safer!

THis makes me so damn angry. THanks, Kain, for posting, I will have to look for the story.

I grew up in Waldorf. Hubby and I had an apartment in Westlake for a year. Then came the mall....we moved to Calvert in '90 and never looked back. It's so sad what the years have done to my nice little home town. In high school we used to sneak out of the house at night and cruise through Waldorf in our pj's.

Hmmm... I don't understand. I live in Montgomery County, much larger the Charles, and we have a safer community here then PG and Charles.

Maybe its because our property values are higher?

High $$$ neighborhoods closeby keep the riff-raff out.

Oh sure, you have your occasional incidents... but by and large this alot safer.

Consider the fact that I live in Montgomery Village. Just down the street from the Lakeforest Mall.

Compare this to what a dump the St. Charles area is. People who live hear THAT mall put up with alot of crap.

:crap:

I was sleeping with the tv on this morning and thought I had dreamed all of this up about a blue jetta, waldorf and a murderer on the loose and was even laughing about the dream on the way into work this morning when I got behind a blue jetta on the parkway. Thanks for the clarification Kain :huggy:
