A 21-year-old Palmer Park man was found shot to death in the parking lot of Matthew Hensen Elementary School early yesterday, Prince George's County officials said, a couple of hours before classes were to begin.
Students of the school, in the 7900 block of Scott Street in Palmer Park, were bused to Largo High School for morning classes so detectives could scour the scene. Students returned about noon.
Cpl. Rob Clark, a police spokesman, said shell casings were found at the scene, indicating that the man, identified as Marlon Mitchell Jr., of the 7700 block of Normandy Road, was slain on school grounds. Clark knew of neither a suspect nor a motive.
