Bodypump

Bodypump was so fun! The music was great and I had a good time. Now that I got a feel for it, I can tweak my weights a little (load up on squats, take it waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy down for triceps:killingme) I followed along easily and completed the whole class..the only time I stopped was to remove all of the weight from my bar when we were doing triceps..clearly my arms are weaker than a 4 yo :coffee:

I had some good motivation too because up front this chick had probably the most perfect ripped but feminine body EVER. I was watching her load up the weights and felt like a total wimp. So, I have something to aspire to :lmao:

I didn't realize that there would be soo many reps, thats really going to hold my weights down, which is ok for me for now, but eventually I would like to switch to higher weights. Still I think I will stick for this for awhile and see what I can do with it.

good time!

Which location?

Yay! You will love it more and more with each class! I got to the point where I was canceling dinner dates and neglecting my family in order to hit the classes... it was truly my addiction...

:yahoo: I'm glad you liked it!

The great thing about Body Pump is you can totally adjust it to what you're able to do. Some days you might not even feel like using a lot of weights - so you can use less.

I have areas I can load up and areas I have to use less weights - triceps & shoulders, for instance. But when the sessions change, sometimes there are songs with more reps for a particular part of the body, so I have to adjust the weights accordingly in order to keep up with the reps. The instructors will usually alert you to this, though, so once you know what you're able to handle you'll be able to adjust it, too.

It's a great overall workout and for me - it's a specific length of time, it's fun, the music is motivating - and I work out each area of the body -all in one hour!

:yahoo: You'll be fine! Start out with 5lbs. on each side-I am sure you can handle those. If you feel it's too light with all the reps...go up. I am up to 20 lbs (total) for warmup, but only 14 for arms. I can do 20 for biceps but only 14 for triceps.Squats & lunges: I am up to 35.

I LOVE my Body Pump class!!Tell us how you do...

btw..I am an idiot..and grabbed what I thought was a 5lb plate..when it was 5kg..I thought you were trying to kill me. LOL.

So, I have been doing body pump twice a week for the last monthish and I have steadily increased my weights..I can say one thing..my quads are freakin rock hard. incredible. but thats the only noticable difference I have seen (besides strength gains, I am using heavier weights) its probably because I feel like all I do during that class is squats :killingme and I am up to 17kg on my squats and gonna up it again next class. Pretty soon I am going to need someone to lift the weight over my head FOR me. :killingme

Anyway, I am fine with the upper body work, but I feel like I need more for my hamstrings and calfs especially..I feel like my quads are taking over my body :cds:

so, what can I add.?
