I read the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit when I was around 12 and loved it. I also really enjoyed Watership Down about that age and The Chronicles of Narnia.

My daughter is loving the "Nancy Drew" books. I think it's so funny because she thinks they are new!
Also, they have Hannah Montana books out now and the girls love them!

Nancy Drew books are wonderful. They also have the Nancy Drew Files for more advanced readers. I loved them. :yay:

Or, another great one is Chicken Soup For the Teenage Soul! Great for a 12 year old. :yay: :yay:

My son is 12 and the boys in his class are reading war stories. The girls are reading "Inkspell" and "The Bartimeus Trilogy"

I remember that day well. It was the summer between 7th and 8th grade (I was almost 13). I told my mom "I can have a baby now!" That got me a big :smack: to th back of my head. I didn't mean that I was going to try to get pregnant right then. Guess I should have chose my wording better.
Um...yeah. My mom would have popped me in the mouth and chained me up.
Me, my mom, and my 2 sisters started at 10. :faint:
My daughter is 12 and nothing but the attitude yet.

My (almost) 12 yr old daughter loves to read.

Have you heard of Stephenie Meyer? I found quotes from Publishers Weekly and ABC news that compare it to Harry Potter. The series is called Twilight and only the first 3 books (is supposed to be a 5 book series) have been published.

She also loves the Warrior Cats series by Erin Hunter. The series is divided up into three miniseries with six books in each series.

 Silly me, I thought you were a boy.

Yeah, I remembered reading them when I was 10, but I can't remember when I outgrew them.

How about VC Andrews? :jet:

I'm just kidding by the way....she should be way older so she can deal with the effed up stories!

i started reading the vc andrews books right around that time, along with stephen king. Guess it all depends on the kid though. Hmmm...might be why I'm a little loony now

 I loved VC Andrews' books...but I think I was 14 when I started reading them. I think I was reading R.L. Stine books (easy to read, but scary) when I was in middle school.
