anyone have any suggestions for brand/model? I'd also love to hear your dislikes if you have one you dont like. I got one 2 yrs a go i threw away. I read directions many times and tried it many times but every time the bottle was so hot i couldnt touch it and the formula or breast mild was piping hot. I even had someone else try incase it was 'operator error'. Thanks!

Why can't you just figure out how long it takes to use your microwave?

I've read many, many places never to use a microwave as it doesnt heat evenly leaving 'hot spots' you may not notice and could burn baby. If many of you suggest that and has worked for you maybe i'll try....thanks.

or, if you are using powder to mix the formula, sterilize the bottles and nipples then boil the water and place the boiled water into the bottles and put the nipple and cap on. When I needed a bottle, you just add the powder. Viola', the bottle is already room temperature. If I wanted to warm it, I just placed the bottle into a glass or bowl of hot water from the kitchen sink for a minute and let the water run into the bowl and it warmed it right up.

This worked great for when I went places too. I kept the bottles of sterilized water in the diaper bag. Whenever I needed to the baby needed to eat, I just had to add the powder to it. Didn't have to worry about keeping the formula cold. Even most public bathrooms have hot water in the sink that you could use to warm a bottle, or sometimes I'd just pack a thermos with hot water if I knew there wouldn't be a bathroom around to use.

:yeahthat: or (since I've read that microwave breaks down nutrients in breast milk)...

stick bottle in hot water and wait.

Four kids of my own and numerous daycare babies, I don't need anymore appliances or pieces of furniture (never had a changing table) that only have limited uses. Any item invented that only has one purpose is a gimmick to make you feel you need something that you really don't.

Are you raising a child, or a biological experiment in a petri dish??

My belief, and only MY belief, is half the issues with allergies, increased illness, etc..etc. .with kids is we are growing them in sterile environments, and when they later come in contact with the real world they discover all kinds of issues, and illnesses.

If a washed glass is good for you, a washed bottle is good for the baby..

Bottle warmer??? Microwave?? Don't you already have a water heater in your house? Most are like 40 gallons, how much is in a bottle??

Warm Tap water works!

Let your kid play and crawl on the floor, let him/her get dirty (that's what baths are for) and if you keep a fairly clean house free of things like Kerosilene your baby should be fine... even healthy!

You mean I can stop sterilizing her water now???? She's only 4 :killingme

and for the record, my first two kids were from the old days (23 and 21 years ago) when you did boil water and sterilize bottles. I only did it for the first month. I breastfed all of them for the most part and realized really quickly that I wasn't boiling my nipples before feeding them, so I stopped boiling their nipples too. I did boil the water for the first month, only because I had well water and it was an older house.
