VALLEY STREAM, New York (AP) -- A 3-year-old boy choked to death while eating popcorn at a movie theater.

Deontea Riley, of New York City, was at the Sunrise Multiplex Cinemas in Long Island's Valley Stream watching "Alien vs. Predator" with his parents and older brother when he began to choke shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday, Nassau County police said.

The family all had been eating from a small tub of popcorn when Elaine McIntosh, the boy's mother, saw that her youngest son was choking.

Poor baby

That's sad. :frown: I try to avoid giving my kids popcorn for that reason.

What I want to know is what was a 3 y.o. doing in a movie like A Vs. P? Too violent if you ask me.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Don't forget hot dogs, carrots and apple slices. Keep 'em on baby food until they reach 18, I say. No sense in taking any chances. :yay:

I thought the same thing when I saw that, is that rated R. Who lets there 3 or 7 year old watch rated R movies. Get a Babysitter for crying out loud.

My three year old sees a lot of R movies (technically). When we want to see something R, we take her when she is tired and let her fall asleep. Also, for something like AvP, she went with my wife to see Yu-gi-oh with her brother. Because of the monster factor.

Hey! Try to avoid those cigarettes too! I hear they are really bad for young children; second-hand smoke and all...you know?

Children have been known to choke on baby food as well, you're best bet would be a feeding tube straight into the stomach. Bypass that troublesome windpipe altogether is the safest bet. :yay: :duh:

Would you also suggest nothing less than freshly produced air from tanks of nitrogen and oxygen? A recommended recipe...

No, you need to add a little methane gas to the equation or these kids would be dropping like flies from being deprived of all the BS that their crazy parents produce in their presence. :duh:
