I notice the temp gages in the cases. Do you use something familiar to what you would for a cigar humidor?

most stands and displays are made for frequently played guitars !
If not played for a extended period of time, my former post applies.

Again, what exactly is an extended period of time? I mean, I think he plays them all here and there but he has his favorites...

We don't allow him to sell any since so far, we are the ones who paid for them. We are letting him put his banjo on ebay though...

Seriously? You'd want a banjo? He just could never really get into it for some reason. PM me, we can work something out. I wouldn't want to do the ebay thing unless I had to.

Very good question !
I just talked to the folks at 'Gibson' and they said
If a guitar is not played for 6 weeks or more, it should be stored in it's case and have the strings relaxed !

If he is gonna be gone for a long period of time (4+ months) GET THEM OFF THE WALL!
hanging them for that long will warp the neck

We're getting him a guitar, I just thought it would be prudent to get an acoustic. Nope, he wants the electric. :lmao: He's really really into music. My 13 year old brother picked up a guitar about a year ago and taught himself how to play. He can listen to a song once, and figure it out on his own. Hopefully Joshua has inherited his abilities.
stand firm and get him an acoustic, if he learns on an electric he will pick up bad habbits that are impossible to break (picking/fingering techniques)

Nickel, I got my son an Electric guitar for his 11th bday, but I also made sure he had lesson as well to teach him the proper way to play the guitar. We Used Garrett’s in Dunkirk and they are really good with kids. We took a break for the summer because He has baseball and that takes up so much time. Talking about that, I have to sign him back up for lessons. This time it will be for Guitar and Trumpet. I want to sign my youngest up for piano lessons. I feel this is a great introduction into learning the basic of music and most importantly reading music. Learning guitar is one of the hardest instruments to learn.

I am. :yay: An electric is a bit much for a five year old. Once he learns and decides it's something he wants to pursue, then we'll drop more money into it.

My brother has expressed interest in teaching him. The reason he wants an electric guitar is because my brother has one. He also has an acoustic though, so he's going to stress to the little one that the acoustic is still cool, and that's what he wants to teach him on.

True that !
Even think about a classical guitar at first (nylon strings).
That way he can build up callouses on the fingertips without the associated pain at first !
