bread pudding

Made this for the first time yesterday. A friend loves it, and I had a loaf of homemade cinnamon bread that was a few days old, so decided to try it.

Never sounded like something I'd care to eat (bread pudding? ick), but it was YUMMY! He brought vanilla ice cream, pudding hot out of the oven, and that bourbon sauce......

Just enough left, I sent him home with a dish and mine is in the microwave heating right now. Is it too early in the morning for the bourbon sauce?

I found a recipe from New Orleans Cooking School but I changed the milk to half and half and the sugar to half brown sugar. I used Italian semolina bread. I used Craisins in mine.

Yes, it is. The best bread pudding I've had around here was at DB McMillan's but they didn't have it on the menu this season. out: I'm to the point of baking it on my own at home, and I hate to cook these days so that's saying something about how much I love it.

Try it at The Front Porch in Leonardtown sometime, it's worth going to just for dessert.

Cafe des Artiste has an amazing bread pudding that was an individual little loaf with the most delicious sauce. It was a special on the dessert menu.
