What about all the businesses that won't have employees due to this "emergency?"

Sucesseful businesses will have continuity of business plans in place. If not, they should use this episode as an opportunity to develop continuity of business plan.

I work for a successful company that's been in business for over 50 years, but only has ten employees. Exactly what continuity of business plan would apply in this situation?

I am still concerned that we have not received any kind of DIRECT information on this subject. It has all been through TV and social media - and as of very recently, posted on the schools website.

And I only say this because we get an automated phone call once or twice every week outlining the upcoming school activities and at least a couple email notices whenever there's an event, such as a kid expelled for making threats. If there's a snow emergency, they call us before 5am. We've gotten nothing from the schools.

I must say that I'm surprised by that too. There should've been some sort of direct communication to the parents. The SMCPS shouldn't rely on the assumption that all parents watched the news.

We got a robo call from the Superintendent last night after 7pm I think. The State Super did TELECON with the counties at 6pm. I believe the email I received is basically the transcript of the call.

this is one of the things we discussed at the store today. The implications of all of this crap, the trickle down effect! This could have a HUUUGE financial impact on a LOT of people! Wake up America!!!!
We had "the sky is falling- we're all going to diie" panic shoppers yesterday stocking up on pet foods. What comes in the days ahead is to be seen. It is doubtful we will close the doors unless the government bans ALL transportation and closes the ALL roads. As I have seen with snow emergencies, people will still come out; even if instructed to stay off the roads. Many times I think it is out of boredom.
The one employee that has two school aged children is taking off on an 11 day vacation so we have already planned her absence (as in, "I" will be working a lot of hours!) so I am not concerned my staff being unable to come in.

So do we know yet that spring break is cancelled for certain? I've heard any number of teachers say differently.

There ya go... Are they also gonna shut down all the beach communities that make their annual income off of drunken, half-naked co-eds?

Well, we're parents of school age kids - for us, spring break means kids out of school and either - at home bothering us or - us away somewhere else for a week.

The state super said that break 'could' be used for make up days. So to me it sounds that they may leave it to the county supers. AFAIK Dr. Smith has not made that decision yet. Hell, they were having conversations that 12 month employees would still have to report to school. My wife was instructed that the teachers were not obligated to send work home with the kids. She opted to send her class home with journals for them to write/draw in everyday and is sending a link to the parents for some online resources.

You know, my kids had mixed reactions - the oldest and youngest were beside themselves happy because of no school - the middle child was, how will I learn? Shouldn't I get homework? How long will we be out? I will bet anything she will ASK her teacher for homework today.

Nobody cares or listens to you dude. Crawl in a hole or something. Quit wasting bandwidth with your stupid gibberish.
Then quit reading what I'm writing, Private Plye. I don't think you've ever witnessed public hysteria before, have you? What do you think happens when people go hungry because there is no food on the store shelves and their meager two shelf pantry is bare? When jobs disappear over night? With everyone so accustomed to just-in-time shipping, there are many going to be in for a rude awakening. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe. But if you get hungry because of your lack of preparedness, don't come looking to me, or others, for food. You just might wind up being served some lead.

OMG. Really? You took that from what I said? By no means is that my frame of mind. But people do some crazy sh*t under pressure. This thing is just getting going. We're in the beginning. Look at what is happening in other Countries. What other Governments are doing. How other people are reacting in other Countries. You think we are immune from the same things, the same fears, the same irrational BS? I hope not.

*You can’t stem fear in people.
**It’s time to make some decisions.

While I don’t know what will happen, it’s time to make some decisions just in case.
  • Where do you want to be during a quarantine or lockdown?
  • When will you stop going to work or sending the kids to school? (Has already happened, schools. What's next?)
  • Do you have enough supplies to see you through 7-8 weeks or longer?
Get prepared for the possibility of a Covid-19 lockdown. You are the only person who can answer these questions for yourself and your family. But you should probably answer them soon, or the decisions will most likely be made for you.

This PSA brought to you by, apparently, an assh*le sucking up bandwidth.

Trolls like him do not have business brains. He just likes to post crap that he thinks makes him look intelligent.

Don't expect a reply, it would require cognitive thinking.

coming from a dumbass who is a cop hater, who thinks you can't be forced to do anything (Ii.e., jury duty, etc). The military (and I'm SURE Lightf*ckingdouched will have something negative to say about the military) don't think a "lockdown" will happen. Go home, jerk off, try to do it without your mothers help.
