My understandig was they were gonna make an attempt to get the whole day in.

I'm still waiting for Ehirlich to declare a state of emergency. That mansion he's in must be awful nice because he sure as hell ain't concerned about this storm like every other state in the Mid-Atlantic is.

:war:
I'll remember this in November
What a moron. It's raining :jameo: It's windy! :jameo: the Governor doesn't love us! :jameo: Emergency! :jameo:

Does your mother breastfeed you still? Pussy.

Just as in a snow situation, the schools are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

If they don't close and something happens that can remotely be blamed on the weather, you can bet your butts that there will be parents outraged that the powers that be didn't have close the schools.
Exactly.

Ya'll are really harsh... I don't think it's as much a panic as it is the fact that several of the bus routes pass through low lying areas that flood.
I think those comments are directed towards the "Maryland should decare a state of emergency :jameo: " instead of the schools getting out early. At least my comments were...

I live in a flood area and it is pretty bad. I would not want the school buses out in this, I know the kids have to go to school but I think safety comes first.

I doubt it. Our governor declared a state of emergency Wednesday morning, and we've been out and about (except for today of course) ever since.

Actually if the Governor declares a state of emergency it stops raining and the wind stops blowing. It's the law.

The threat of low areas flooding has obviously caused the early dismissal of schools. There have also been a few trees downed across electric lines. Listening to the scanner for CC standing water signs are in very high demand and the trucks are returning to base to pick up more. On the positive side, we are getting the much needed rain.

Heard on the scanner that they started evacuating the lower end of Society Hill about an hour or so ago

Local radio station still on, so we're safe. Course, they have no "live" people on, well, not they usually do anyway.

Anyone from California on? My messenger conversation was cut short.
