5 schools have collapsed. At least 100 people killed, and about 1,000 students are known to be buried in the debris. The earthquake registered an EM7.8, felt as fat away as Vietnam.

Ironically, at about 2:50 am this morning, I received a phone call from a very frantic woman, speaking chinese, when I told her she had the wrong number, she started yelling at me in chinese! I hung up! Weird huh!!!

China is 12 (or 13 depending on DST) ahead of us. So it would have been 3ish p.m. I have no idea when it happened there though.
I lived there for about a year after college. Actually I lived about 100 miles north of where this happened.
