It is dominant which means one of the parents must show pattern for it to appear and it can appear over any color. Yep I groom a beautiful long hair chocolate dapple spay with blue eyes...but the dapple gene will bite you in the ass if you don't know how to "use" it...I found that out the hard way doing research on a double dapple I own...NO eyes and DEAF also...so if you are messing with the dapple gene you better know how to use it to your benefit...
