Variety at the Brew & 'Que

Will there be a good variety of beers and barbeques or will there just be the standard Coors or Bud and North Carolina Style BBQ? TIA!

We're still working on all of the types and styles of BBQ that are going to be there. Obviously you'll be seeing the pulled pork and that sort, because that is the most popular and we have to appeal to everyone. We're also trying to find some that are a little different though so that you are seeing a few different styles like dry rubs and so on.

As far as the beer is concerned, that is also still a bit up in the air. We are certainly going to try to provide variety there as well, but the fact that no microbreweries exist in all of Southern Maryland makes it difficult. If you all know of any that you'd like to see there though, please let us know because while we may not be able to get them this year - we'll be back again next year and hopefully will build this event from year to year adding a wider variety of BBQ and beer.

Keep in mind too, we've got lots of other things going on including 10 bands over two days, we've got a Lumberjack show similar to what you'd see on ESPN's outdoor games, a BMX bike stunt show, and also a NASCAR style piece that'll have remote control racing, a tire-changing station where you race against the clock to change the fastest tire, and a full size NASCAR sytle simulator in which you actually climb in the car and the game is built in. All in all this event should be a lot of fun outside of the obvious beer and BBQ theme!

Thanks again for the interest everyone! We look forward to having you all join us!

If you all have any other questions or suggestions, please let me know.

Cheers!

BBQ Battle

BBQ people are always smokin' hot :jet:

This same company organizes the National Capital BBQ Battle

Just wanted to clarify that we're not the same people that "own" the BBQ Battle in DC, however we do help them manage the event. I just wanted to be sure that was clear because while we hope ours is as successful, we will be providing a very different type of event.

I saw Jimmy's Chicken Shack was playin on the 20th so I'll be there both days... and I'm surprised there hasn't been a micro-brew in SOMD... maybe it's time to change that... who's gonna do it? I'll have myself my own chair right up at the bar

can't wait till the 19th + 20th!! :yay:

From what I understand, microbreweries are against the law in St Mary's...don't know about Calvert/Charles.

variety of beers

How about Clipper City out of Baltimore or Fordham from Deleware? Southern Maryland may not have a microbrewery (yet), but why not try and stay as local as possible? Both D.C. and Richmond even have a couple of good ones.

Not to be contentious, but if you are billing it as "Brew and Que" wouldn't one assume that beer would be varied and featured?

Yes. They just don't know exactly *what* beers there will be.

I'll see what I can do about Dogfish. I have a call into them, though I'm not sure that I didn't already call them a few months back. I'll check again. They've got great beers!
