We have a Toyota 4 Runner (forgot the year right now) and a 2001 Volkswagon GTI. Neither run. Thought about calling a junk yard to come get them. Do they pay you for the junk cars? Also thought about selling them (or at least one) for parts but I don't know anything about that either. Can someone offer some advice? TIA.

There are some places that will pay about $100.00 to take away your junk car, there are charitys that will pick it up and give you a voucher for a tax right off, you could put them in the classifides on here and see if you get any bites, or you could call a salvage yard to come get it and get nothing in return but an empty driveway!! Good Luck in your choice!!!

There's always enthusiasts looking for spare parts. some may be willing to pay a few hundred or so for random parts they can salvage. Craigslst? ebay?

take the tax write off, you will make more money that way, take it to a junk yard they might give you $125 for it so they can make $5000 off the parts

Thought they changed the law recently, car has to be in running condition and you cant get the write off till the charity sells it. Think you can still donate to the local VFD and they can use it for training and drills and I believe you can still get a write off, they will give you a form letter type of a reciept saying it was donated to them.

The Toyota needs a new engine and we were told that if what's wrong with the VW is what's really wrong it could cost more than 4k to fix. We've already put one engine in the Toyota. I'm not dropping anymore money in these vehicles. A guy said he was interested in the Toyota for $500 obo. He came by a couple of times, hubby was on travel, haven't seen him since. We're not trying to get rich here.
