Buggy Accident - Thompson's Corner Road

There was a buggy accident this morning around 7:30 right at the intersection of Thompson's Corner and Dixie Lyon. The horse was laying in the road and the buggy upside down in someone's yard. I'm not sure what happened but I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Hope there were no serious injuries. I have basically stopped using that road at all. The dump trucks and people flying through there like there is no tomorrow are outrageous. You would think it was part of Budds Creek the way some of them drive. The way I look at it, the Amish were there long before most of us moved here and if we want to travel that road, we should be prepared to slow down and allow plenty of extra time to get to wherever we're going.

That's so sad, I hate to see animals suffer. I hope it all turned out ok. That's a bad intersection. I t-boned someone who pulled out in front of me and totalled my truck there 2 months ago. I am suprised we don't see more horse and buggy accidents either the way some idiots drive around there. All in a big hurry to go nowhere.

I'm with you 100%. I don't know if it was a bad pass or maybe even that the horse pulled out in front of traffic but I really wish people would slow down. Even going the speed limit would be a great improvement. I've had people pass buggies without a care as to oncoming traffic. The Amish are my neighbors and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I would be terrified to ride in a buggy on the road, absolutely terrified.

Pardon me....is that the first thing you think of our basically property....animals. Are you kidding me! REALLY!.... People may have been injured and your more concerned about the suffering of animals. If the animals are injured you put a bullet in them. Amish do it and drag them off with a tractor.

Unbelievable the priorities people have.

WOW.. if you're getting passed by a horse and buggy, even if they are doing it badly, you should rethink your choice of Neon as a family car.

I thought the same thing, about the horse I mean. I look at it as a person driving, whether it be a horse and buggy or a car, take and accept the risks associated with those actions, that horse had no choice in the matter.

I talked to the Amishman involved last night and fortunately no PEOPLE were hurt but, as you said, the horse did not make it. And yes, poor horse. That was very sad to see.

Yes. Poor horse. I'm sure the owners of that horse are just as upset. He was their transportation, and most likely farmed.

And people immediately said poor horse, cause the horse was down and not moving, but the people in the buggy were up.

Don't be so nasty. The Amish live a very simple life and I'm sure they were more upset about the horse than a bump on the noggin.

If the animals are injured you put a bullet in them...

I must add that if my animal gets hurt, the first thing I do is NOT put a bullet in it! I realize this is a horse and that's the humane thing to do if there's no other choice but to use that as a general rule, well, I hope you don't own any animals.

I also am glad that no people were hurt but all the people involved had a choice in being there at that time and place, horse did not have that choice.

So it would be ok if the people died because they chose to be there?

I'm sorry, my 4 year old NEVER has a choice of being where he is..
