Buggy Accident - Thompson's Corner Road

If the animals are injured you put a bullet in them...

I must add that if my animal gets hurt, the first thing I do is NOT put a bullet in it! I realize this is a horse and that's the humane thing to do if there's no other choice but to use that as a general rule, well, I hope you don't own any animals.

I do....and I will call you with the vet bill.....:killingme

Whoever you are...Get a grip! I was just going off what was reported. I am glad to see that the persons involved were not hurt either. If you read my post- I hope it ALL turned out ok

Sheezzzz, just when you think this forum was getting better someone has got to act like a jerk.

Have a nice day :cds::cds:

Then you should have mentioned the people in the buggy FIRST and concern for their welfare FIRST instead of a horse. So there! :cds:

Pardon me....is that the first thing you think of our basically property....animals. Are you kidding me! REALLY!.... People may have been injured and your more concerned about the suffering of animals. If the animals are injured you put a bullet in them. Amish do it and drag them off with a tractor.

Unbelievable the priorities people have.
I generally think more of animals than people, normally of the two they're nicer to be around.

In My Opinion
Well theres your problem.
Its those irresponsible owners letting their Amish run loose.

:smack: Then you have never been on an Amish farm! Most Amish farms with cows and/or pig have tractors - a must for certain chores.....
I live in Amish country and haven't seen one yet. They use horses to plow and pull. Please tell me where I might go see one.

You need to get out more. :killingme

They use tractors, wood splitters (gas) etc....all you need to to do is go to the wood mill on Thompson Corner and you can see their equipment. Or MOST any other farm.

I have personally seen them pull dead horses from the roadway.

I know they use gas engines to drive air compressors for cutting wood.

I have never seen an Amish on a tractor in St. Marys County.

You don't see Amish on tractors in St. M's because the metal wheels they have on the tractors will tear up the roads. They aren't allowed to drive them on the road. They keep them on the farms.

Amish are allowed to use whatever technology that the local branch of the sect deems promotes the health and survival of the community. Tractors keep them competitive enough to make a living. Vulcanized rubber tires were invented after whatever date the Amish use to define modern versus traditional ways and rubber isn't strictly necessary to the operation of a tractor.

they don't use thier tractors for field work, mostly for the pto to run elevators
and grian mills. most dutchman on 236 have tractors and put steel wheels on them.
Isreal Swarey had purchased a massey ferguson and left the rubber tires on it one summer. it got real dry that year and his father blamed the drought on
the rubber tires still on the tractor. the next year it was wet and isreal asked his dad if he sould but the rubber tires back on. his dad didn't see the humor.

they do drive them on the road. one was going down the newly paved 236 this morning.
