I've gotten further clarification; sorry for the late reply.
I had originally been told 10 ambulances (as I had not been on the scene). Correct that, 10 emergency vehicles.
All 6 (actually 7, because it goes 4 lanes for a short while although I have not been all the way up and down Waldorf since the repavement) lanes were shut down, as well as Route 5 up to Billingsley and Route 228. My friend, who was there, also said Western Parkway was open but packed.
IU'm still not sure if it was 2 cars or 5-6 cars. Some of the other cars may have recieved minor damage but were able to go after being questioned (so to speak) by police.
I've heard from quite a few people and gotten very conflicting details myself. It's very hard to determine what's
and what's not sometimes, especially during a 'breaking' story (again, so to speak). The one thing that was and still is unanimous is that the accident was caused by someone running a red light. I hope for Pete's sake (just a term, not speaking of
Pete) that it wasn't the 17 year-old's fault in any way as it would just be another smoking gun in the argument to outlaw teenage driving and raise the driving age (which would have to be a state decision anyway and, judging by their recent actions to cut funding to Charles County, they don't care about Waldorf or Southern Maryland).
It was probably just overaggressive driving.

Off topic but related
I had at least two moron's cut me off coming out of Circuit City and the Eastern/Subway/OfficeDepot shopping plaza (I don't even know/care what they call it anymore) in sequence. The second one if the one that pissed me off. He thought he could make it and just shot out of the plaza like a cannonball. I was getting back to 35mph (after idiot 1, who didn't really piss me off because it's typical Waldorf) when he came out.
It was so sudden, and he had no room to make it across two/three (it changes by there somewhere) lanes of traffic like he did. If it hadden been for my quick judgement to hit the brakes and turn into shopper plaza, I probably would've t-boned him. I didn't have time to hit the brakes and him get across, I just had to flat out drive it and make that turn in the interest of not destroying my beloved piece of chit SUV.
If that dude's on here, he owes me a little bit of gratitude as I very possibly saved his life. I say that because, let me tell you what, that would've been a hard hit.
And to the person on Hamilton/Western, thanks for pulling over to let me go buy. This is just a friendly reminder that the speed limit has apparently been changed to 40 mph (And might actually be 45). So, I'm not an azz, because I was driving no faster than the posted speed limit (40 mph, maybe 45 but I was driving 40).
Hillcrest dude, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm tired and don't feel like playing the numbers game with trying to remember every single speed limit and where it's at all at once.
Maryland, if the speed limit is 35 mph on Hamilton, you need to post it somewhere.
You guuys didn't do a bad job with the road, it's not your fault, but it's a drag strip and it's dangerous. That's not the road's fault though, it's the people who decide to use it as such.
