I get mad at our Wednesday meeting if someone gets my chocolate covered donut. They ALL know I want that donut so they should leave it be and go for the cake, filled or the cruller. One time a new guy grabbed the chocolate covered and someone told him :nono: so the fool put it back thinking I would not see his fingerprints in the frosting. Finally I told them if they didn't stop snorking my chocolate covered donut I was going to quit. Now they get 2 chocolate covered and sometimes I even eat both.

You get Donuts?!! We only get stale coffee, and we have to pay for it.

It's called "Seniority", and I think it's absolutely fair.
If I had been somewhere a long time, and some newbie P.A.K. was given the cool big desk, I'd probably get huffy (that's about as mad as I'd get about a desk).

It is just a desk. I can see why it would be stupid and non productive if the other employee already has a corner where all her equipment is set up, then why move. The new desk does not sound bigger than hers, only bigger than the poster. Plus the boss said she/he could have it.

Seniority should not play into it. I have known people that have been at my job as long as I have and they are the worst employees, just because you have been somewhere longer does not always mean good.

It doesn't matter how old I am. Like I said before, sure it's just a desk, but this bully shouldn't be able to get her way every damn time. It's confusing, but she doesnt' work for my boss. My boss is not her boss. Well, he sort-of is, but she works for a different company than we do, but shares office space.

Sure, drafting tables can be moved...but not in this case. If she were to get the "good" desk, there's no where to put the table. She is not moving to a larger desk, she would be moving to the same-size desk.

Like I said, sure it's just a desk, but it's the principle of it. :ohwell: She gets what she wants this time, and she'll think she can always just shove me (and others) out of her way.

Believe it or not, my employer actually fires people who don't do their job properly. I see them come, I see them go. :howdy:

Thats why here, we have two categories, seniority and tenure  If you've been here longer you have tenure. If you have more experience you have seniority  Some things like desks I suppose wold fall under tenure - while other things would fall under who has seniority.

Then again, point this out to your boss like you did with us and see what happens.

Does she or her company pay for the space?

We don't have anything like that here. Especially for a desk. Whinny as she may be she does have a point.

Actually, I think you are blowing it out of proportion, and since your boss already said "oops, she's getting the desk not you" then going back and whining about it is just that - whining.

I agree. Put yourself in her shoes. If you had been there longer and eyeing a bigger desk for a long time (longer than you) and then a newer person came in and immediately got it without anyone even asking you... wouldn't you start a thread about that too if you were her? You would have felt miffed or slighted that it DIDN'T go to you because you were there longer  It'll be okay :huggy: Nothing is forever :huggy:

Okay, maybe...but I know if I was promised the desk and someone came up behind me and did that I would want to find out why and press for the desk.

If she did not have the drafting table in the corner, and if the boss did not promise me the desk first then ok, getting a bigger desk is cool.

But it does seem a little weird that the woman would want a desk that is no bigger than the one she has and far away from her equipment.

She has never mentioned wanting a different desk. In fact, when they built this office space, she WANTED her own corner so she could spread everyhting out.

Can your office not move the little desk out, so then you have more room? Do you have another room to move the small desk to so the bigger desks and drafting table could be rearranged so that she is not over your shoulder? Maybe go to your boss and let him know that you two do not get along very well and since he is YOUR direct supervisor he can come up with a plan. Let him know that its not that you can not work well together you just have personalities that clash and you would like to rearrange the office area and you would like his approval. Then that way she gets the other persons desk, rearrange so she is farther from you, move your little desk out(so not a fire hazard anymore) and move into her desk?

Are you the only one that has a clash with her? How many other people are in your office?

Thank goodness every job I have had, I have had my very own office! :yay:

I know it's a stupid desk, but it's the principle. Boss told me one thing, and I called the desk, but because the bully is being loud about it, she'll probably get it. I don't want to cause a fuss, but I don't want people walking all over me, either.

What should I do?

Bust a Cap in her ASS after work in the parking lot ........
