Charles Co. Bunkyo University students visit CCPS

Bunkyo University students visited Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) earlier this year to learn more about the American public education system and teach CCPS students about the Japanese culture.

The 30 university students spend a week at a hotel and another with host families around the county.

From Feb. 18 to March 1, they attended presentations by CCPS staff, learned about career and technology education (CTE) programs, visited the University of Maryland, College Park and observed classroom instruction at Maurice J. McDonough High School.

The students were welcomed into classrooms at Berry, Dr. James Craik, Malcolm, Mary H. Matula, Walter J. Mitchell, Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy, Mary B. Neal, J.C. Parks, Arthur Middleton and William B. Wade elementary schools and Milton M. Somers Middle School.

The Bunkyo students held a Sayonara Party on Feb. 28 for their host families and CCPS staff to thank them for the experiences in the classroom and their hospitality. This is the 29th year Bunkyo students have visited CCPS.
