Burn the Damn Masks
Good on ya!

Have no idea at this time what my employer plans, so I'm keeping mine handy.
Also, as I typed on another thread, waiting until I see the oncologist on Wednesday to unmask myself.

Met new forum members today! It was a great day for the burn! No not Bernie’s burn. We burned about 50 masks. Numerous people were reluctant to burn theirs fearing they would still need it in other businesses or doctor visits or airplanes. We still had 20-25% of our customers wearing masks, which after talking to a couple of them they had no clue the mandate was lifted. Since this is such a sensitive subject for some, I was reluctant to ask everyone wearing a mask if they wanted to burn it since some will choose to continue to wear for months or years to come.

Over all we were very pleased with the day and the turn out that we had – thanks to everyone for your support!

At the estate sale I worked today, it was very similar to yesterday where the 20-35 year old folks kept theirs on and most people older whipped them off faster than I whip off my bra after wearing it all day! Maskless ones were appreciative that we said they were optional. I went the whole day with the damn thing in my pocket.

I posted this in our FB feed and this thread got reposted on FB as well and it was far and away the most popular topic over the weekend with the most responses and engagements.

So how was the turnout?

I was really considering bringing masks down to burn but I came up with what I think is a better idea. Since my wife made about 600 masks and sold them for $5 apiece (gotta love capitalism and ignorant customers) I have asked her if she has some left. Seems she still has enough fabric cut out to make a couple hundred more. My idea was for her to make me a COVID-Quilt for those cold winter nights. After she stopped laughing she said its not a bad idea so it's a new project for her spare time.

Making memories, one panic stricken government farce at a time.

I plan on saving one mask and writing Covid19 Pandemic 20-21 on it and putting it in our scrapbook. I am hoping in time, I will have forgotten about it and will be shocked when I see the mask and remember why.

She was next door checking out the Bbq contest at the Legion, making sure we didn't poison anyone......

I wanted to stop in there soooo bad..but the missus and I already had grilling plans for that afternoon. Looked like a great turnout!

For such short notice we were pleased with the turnout though we did expect more. I think many people were confused on if the mask mandate had really been lifted. Burned about 50 masks in total. Lots of honking and waving as cars went by - it was a beautiful day for people to just go out for a drive.

Thx for helping us get the word out!

What were you doing 1 year ago today? I remember customers coming in the store thinking it wasn't true they could take off their face diaper after more than a year of wearing it (off course you were never required to wear one in my establishment!). I saw at least 2 people in the store TODAY with it still on! :jameo:
