You're all F'in Mad...
Anything service oriented... Not an inventory business. Definitely not MLM.

Look at the ServPro's of the world. Or your car mechanic (which unfortunately takes technical training and a million dollars worth of equipment.) But there are services that haven't fully penetrated our market yet. Personal Chef for instance. Computer repair, etc...

A jack-of-all-trades handyman service. This works well in areas with a lot of white collar workers and single women. They cut your grass, clean out your garage, hang your Christmas lights, heavy lifting and grunt work - pretty much what a handy husband would do if they had the time or the inclination.

I could give you loads of ideas.. Portable oil change service.. You come to the customer, for both car and boat. Service customers cars while they sit in their office at work.. Can be JUST oil changes to make it easy for set up, and still make a sizable profit.

Others I would ask that you sign a contract, and would let you come in as a venture capitalist..

My cousin and Aunt used to pay a crap load of money to have someone come to their job and detail their car for them once a week.

The best thing to start off with is to ask all your friends, acquaintances, and family what they see a need for. They are all your potential customers and can give you good insight on what is needed and will do well in this area. Talk to the local small business group in the area. They can give you tons of ideas and are a great but under-utilized service.

Another thing to think about is taking something you love to do and turn a hobby into a business. Like computers? Start your own computer repair/install service. Musically inclined? Give lessons. Like to cook? Become a personal chef or start catering. The possibilities are endless. You are much more likely to be successful if you have a passion for whatever you are doing. Small businesses can be alternatively very rewarding and frustrating as heck. Be prepared to put in long hours as YOU are it.

Good luck!
