Until we have leaders and educators who tell us and our kids that it is ok to get our hands dirty to make a living and DON'T tell everyone how important it is to go to college and no kid can be left behind, then I don't think we should penalize business owners for hiring illegals. We need a shift in this country showing kids that a hard day's work can make for an honest and decent living. Until that happens, we will never be able to fill all of our jobs with American citizens, so if you want your house cleaned, your roof replaced, your lawn mowed, or cheap fruit in the grocery store, don't penalize me, the business owner, for hiring an illegal to fulfill your needs and wants.
That exact same thing could be said by the illegal alien.

My BIL used to have to deal with bidding on jobs that could always be undercut by someone with a crew of illegals.

A construction company in my hometown of 8k people was found to hire/harbor illegal aliens. You can't seem to have a roof installed these days by a crew that doesn't at least raise an eyebrow concerning their immigration status.
That is true. The only guy that spoke English that installed my roof was the foreman and the guy from the actual company I hired.

A partner and I got that regularly in Los Angeles, back in the late '70s/early '80s. They're never painted houses before, but 18 of them would show up with scavenged paint, and paint whole houses for less than what we could do the job for.

Later on, we'd get calls to come fix the f*ck-ups.

My sister call me when a contractor hired non-Americans to put her roof on they were only using 2 nails per shingle I told them 3 nails or get off the roof. I suppose some people like 4 but IMO 3 is enough, that means there are actually 6 nails holding the shingles on if they are placed right.
