But you must follow the science......

(I GET your point, but I disagree. The professor was injecting her own ideas on a paper, something they're not supposed to do.)
It was a GENDER STUDIES course. That's the literal definition of an opinions class based on whatever the hell the professor wants it to be. There is no standard, no scientific basis for the materials in that class. They hire whoever ticks the most boxes and let them teach what they want.

Yes, if you take wood shop you sure as hell better listen to the teacher missing 3 fingers that a push-stick is important. If you are taking economics you might be able to argue the validity of one method vs another. If you are in gender studies just shut your damn mouth and regurgitate whatever the feminazi running the class is teaching.

And there you have it.

Either it has standards and strict defintions (which appear to conform to specifically the opinions and definitions of the professor) -

Or it IS a matter of opinions - in which case, the definitions themselves are subjective. It's one or the other - objective or subjective. If it's the latter, you can't fault a student for having a different opinion, especially if they make their case sensibly.

I'm just spitballin' - but it sounds as though the professor has her own idea of what the objective truth is, and that others must agree.
I don't think a course on such material should be taught that way, but I'm not a professor.

She didn't fault the student for having a difference of opinion. The paper was literally about why transgender women shouldn't compete in women's sports, and the prof. said it was a good paper but took offense at the term "biological female" which ought to tell you which side of that argument she was on. She was just being a tyrant about language use. Like an english teacher failing your paper for using two spaces after a period since it is no longer proper convention (typewriters not really being a thing anymore). That's the type of thing you let slide because who has the energy to fight it.

I'm of the opinion that this girl took the class just for getting this story out. The class is more or less just to transfer the teachers opinion to the student.
