Park Officer Shoots Driver on BW Parkway

A U.S. Park Police officer apparently shot and wounded a driver on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway near Riverdale this afternoon, police said.

The incident began a little before 1:30 p.m. when the officer tried to stop a green Buick sedan with D.C. tags in the northbound lanes of the parkway near the Riverdale Road exit. Police said the officer pursued the car for several minutes before it stopped in a grassy median.

The driver reportedly left the car and began running. The officer shot the driver in the chest at least once, police said.

The wounded man was taken by helicopter to a hospital, where he is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, said Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department spokesman Mark Brady.

Yes we need more details. Like how many shots were fired. If the gun wasn't unloaded on this goon, I want that officers ass reprimanded!!! If the goon isn't dead, I want him to take remedial sharp shooting training.

I, for one, am glad to see it's making a comeback.

I wonder how many lives and how much property were saved because this idiot never made it on foot into traffic.


Having said that, I'm glad the guy didn't die, and was only wounded. I just hope any forthcoming lawsuits are nipped in the bud.

It says he was shot in the chest, which would not make sense if he was running away. But running towards the officer doesn't make sense either unless he was (obviously dumb, high, or drunk and) brandishing a weapon of some sort. Article missing info or incorrect somehow.
