And here's the rub. It happened Thanksgiving Day, a day when I never went farther north than the California Wal-Mart. And the pictured vehicle is a type I have never owned. But the tag number matches one I was issued about 20 days before, quite clearly a match. But it's in my driveway on a 90 bright yellow Geo Strom, not a 1990s GM Stepside pickup with a cap.

So, I am renewing my DL later today in Loveville, and plan to ask WTF and can I have new tags. Only appeal process listed on the citation is a hearing, I assume in Baltimore:)

?? it's even odder than that. MD has different alpha-numeric 'formats' for tags by vehicle type. Trailer, MPV, pickup, auto and RV, etc are each different. I always assumed that was so LEOs could tell just at a glance that a tag was being misused and/or stolen; but that is just a guess.

So I have to wonder which format your tags are in..the one for pickups or the one for cars.

Just call them and give them the documentation so it can be dismissed. Its the photo ticket gods letting you know they are watching lmao j/k

Gilligan, its the new format, the number, two vertical letters, then four numbers.

Pride, I am going to try that after talking to the DMV, and demanding new tags, becuase this isnt a mistake in reading the tags, it is clear in the pictures, its that that pickup has identical tags.

I will update this later. I also plan to see if I can do the math and check that cams accuracy, since it has three decimal places in the timestamps.

Has DMV abandoned the 'vehicle type' formats? Most of my tags have been around for a while but I did notice that the new trailer tags I got early this year are still clearly a 'trailer' format..

Before you go crazy with the photos and using that crazy software on that webpage make sure that they are using fixed points to use time and distance. The legislation (which I have read very thorougly) says the pictures are secondary evidence of the violation. Not primary. :coffee:

And this is one of the reasons I oppose these things. You are guilty until proven innocent. It is up to you to spend your time and money to prove your innocence and you will not get reimbursed for it. People always think automation is good until something like this happens to them, and then after they spend numerous hours, time off work, money on legal services, etc, they change their support for automation....

Good luck - I feel your pain and frustration!

No pain or frustration, I was lauging as I opened the envelope, knowing damn well I have not been closer to Bmore that BWI in at least two years. Just talked to the nice lady, who evidently has access to higher resolution images than the website. She saw that maybe the tag had an H instead of an M. Pulled a search on that variant, sure enough it is a red pickup that has multiple offenses, evidently the $40 fines have not slowed him down:)

My tag number is now flagged that any Bmore photo cites get double checked for make and model, and this one should clear after investigation, sometime in Jan.

I think his first line of defense is that it's not his car and therefore not him that should be recieving the citation.

I'll go him one better, I had my credit card charged by a rental car company for a speed camera ticket as well. At first I didn't even know what the charge was for. Then I had to figure oiut that I had been cited for speeding on a freeway outside Boulder Colorado.
My claim was that could not be possible, that I was in Los Angeles - in a rental car (which they said was one in the same). They were pretty certain that the automated system couldn't be wrong and I was pretty certain that I could not have made a 2000 mile roud trip puttoing less then 200 mile on the car.

Well, I got one the other day from Montgomery county on nov 28 come back from out of town in a construction area. ie going 70. no one else around but me with photo and correct car etc. Yes its my fault. But sounds like someone took your tag or borrowed it and put it back on.
Yes im going to slow it down in construction areas, well maybe 80 in the left lane is alittle too fast. No ive not had any wrecks ever and dont say theres a first time forevery thing! Not true. But I will slow it down.

Make sure you follow up on clearing the flag. I fought one and it took 3 years and many phone calls and letters to clear the flag for their mistakes. Every time it was renewal time they were saying there was a flag.

Nah, wanst my tag, turns out that in her high resolution image, she could see that whats clearly an M on mine was actually an H.

Oh, I will, Joe, no way am I trusting that.

Mva Sucks

Kind of belongs here and kind of doesn't.

I did receive a parking ticket several years ago. It wasn't my car and it took hours of me on the phone to clear up the fact I did not have a red Dodge Caravan parked in front of the Baltimore Stadium.

Currently, I have a vehicle with a title the MVA typed out incorrectly.

They typed a 5 as an S.

Yay me!

No charge, apparently, but I do have to go in person to have this corrected before I can sell before mentioned vehicle.

I would like to charge them for my pain and anguish.

TPD is exactly correct. And this is contrary to our rule of law. In fact, Maryland hopes that you won't appeal. This is why they keep the ticket amount low. Maryland has really become "a tax crazed State". Pure and simple. If OMalley could find a why to tax the air you breathe, he would. I have no clue why folks put him in office all the time. And if we put a Republician in there, I doubt he would repeal a single tax. He just wouldn't add more as OMalley continues to do. A new gas tax is around the corner. He emptied out this pile of money long ago. How knows what he spent these millions on? Illegals?

As a business owner, I find it very frustrating that I must always prove my innocence with rules and regulations. Numerous times I have had to spend my valuable time proving that a form was filed correctly with the taxing authority, or the correct fee was remitted with a license renewal.

As has been stated here in this thread, speed and red light cameras will only add to the frustration. I think the law for these cameras should be written that if you are erroneously issued a ticket from one of these cameras, you should be given compensation, at least in the amount of the fine, by the agency that issued the ticket. There needs to be a penalty of some sort to the company and/or agency so show this is a 'not for profit' venture. JMO

Is this just your next cause ? I don't get it... If you don't speed you won't have to pay the fine.. Simply HUMAN errors as glhs had can be fixed. It has happen to me I have got 4 of these things easy. I was guilty so I paid. Dude why don't you put all this energy into helping the homeless or veterans. You are obviously motivated. I still think after you revealed that information that was in trusted to you that you should be no longer allowed to hold you position as you are using it for your own gain.:duel:
