Cabin in the Smoky Mountains

Finally able to get out and about with the new camera. I am still in the learning mode but here is one that I took yesterday. I still have a lot to learn so any comments and suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks, I like the color much better. I guess there is not enough contrast for it look good in B&W.

I read that you always shoot in color. you can PP a color to B&W but not the other way around.

I loved the cabin in the color shot but not the sky, but not much I could do about it at that time of day. Oh...I will learn.

Sure there is. This is the main reason to have a polarizer. At the very least, you can always try to frame it so that the amount of sky is minimized. Having a good sky is nice, but if it's going to be blown-out it's better to leave it out altogether.

I think it captured the moment: middle of winter, weathered wooden cabin, no grass just dirt. Some jarring color like an intense blue sky or red curtins might made it more magazine quality, but that wasn't what was there.
