Cafe Des Artistes

So I saw this ad at the top of my page for some fancy (for somd) french restarant right there in Leonardtown...I haven't seen it there before though ...

It is Cafe des Artistes apparently...

I was just wondering if anyone has gone, how it is in terms of food/atmosphere, how hard is it to get into (say on a day like valentines day...that is the reason i'm looking at it), is it worth the money?

How is the food w/o any wine? (those frenchies tend to drink wine like it is water...and I am sure that the wine is complimentary to the food, but both me and my companion would be underage and thus can't enjoy the fine wine :frown:)

Thanks in advance :howdy:

Edit: You can see how into french stuff I am, apparently it is "des" instead of "de"? go figure lol. Whatever, I am just looking into possiblities of romantic stuff that isn't too far to travel for VT day.

I know people who like it, but it gives me the creeps....

...I also wouldn't call it "romantic".

Go Braves!
I work on the square and there is always the most amazing smells coming out of there  I haven't been though, it's not the kind of menu my husband would enjoy:smile:

Really? How come?

I love Cafe des Artistes. The food isn't fancy French with weird sauces, etc, but very good. I would definitely get a reservation if you want to be there for VDay.

I haven't been there lately, but I was happy with their food the one time I've tried it.

I've been several times and always get their chicken w/crab meat and melted cheese on top. Man, I think another trip is in order!

welll...that is a good thought...

BUT

Now, after I decided I might enjoy it (more than I'd originally thought)...I asked the lady if she has ever been and I get the response of..

"yeah, don't like it...and 'so and so' works there"

well i guess there goes that one

BUT (again)

The good news,
When I said I had been thinking about going there for Vday the lady said she is cooking dinner for me and her on Vday

I  homecooked stuff, forget "fancy" french restaurants :lmao:

o well, maybe we'll try it sometime anyhow...it did look like some of the stuff on that menu could be good

Ok, I only ate there once but......

Way too well lit to be romantic.
Too many tables cramed in the room for comfort.
Way too pricey for the food.... 1 pork chop, pipied room temp. mashed potatoes, room temp, once " just heated " (raw ) asparagus, cold bread and hard butter. It was $25.00-$30.00, I don't remember as I was not paying. I will not let him take me there again.
On the up side, the service was good.

If you are impressed by the price of the bill, by all means go!

Why didn't you just ask her about dinner in the first place  She is probably setting you up to see if you will actually make her cook on Vday.

Are you planning to propose?

Well, she is pregnant remember

 That DOES sound good.

If I take you there will you put out?
