Calvert Co Public School Bus #95

Did anyone's kid actually get ON the bus this morning?? My husband and kids were at the bus stop by 8:04am and stayed until 8:26am and the bus never came. Others were standing out there too so we know that it's not like our kids missed the bus. Husband got to Patuxent Elementary at 8:36am and Bus #95 was there, first in line, with about 6 other buses behind it. My husband dropped youngest off and then headed over to Appeal. Bus #95 had no kids on the bus and went to Appeal anyway and sat there and then left.

Umm.. what the heck?? First my kids don't get home until 4:50pm yesterday and now the bus driver doesn't even pick any kids up today!! If the bus was at PES with several buses behind it, that means that he got there while my kids (and other kids) were still at the bus stop!

Do I have merit to file a complaint (for yesterday and today)?

phone call to transportation office would be best - simple inquiry as to the bus route/times. explain what happened - could very well be a new driver and missed your road/stop completely innocent not knowing new route. Filing a "complaint" would be better served in the form of a few question, at least my thoughts. Best of luck to you... :)

:yeahthat: There is no need to turn it into an ugly confrontation. At this point, the first step is to identify the appropriate pick-up/drop off times.

He managed to get everyone picked up on time yesterday so why just forget everyone today? I don't want a confrontation and am planning on calling the transportation department about it. Pick-up time is 8:10am at the first stop. The bus driver drives past our stop and picks up the kids at the farthest stop first so my kids are near the end of the route in the morning.

Im not sure that a true "complaint" is in order quite yet. My little brother's bus (bus #2 for Huntingtown High) was also very late yesterday (I dont know about today). It may be that its just a matter or getting the 1st week of school glitched out of the way.

If your kids missed any school, however, defintiely contact the transportation office and speak with someone directly. Take their information, etc. Then call the school and explain to them that your kids missed school because of the bus, not because of you, etc. Give the school the information of the person you speak with at the transportation office. That way the school and the transportation office can talk and your kids dont get charges with an absense. And if they do try to charge your kids with an absence, fight that mess. Cause it defintiely wasnt your fault!

Good luck! :howdy:

The bus didn't pick up any kids today. That's my beef. He went to both schools with an empty bus.

Okay. Again, it is the first week of school. Miscommunication maybe? It's not that big of a deal, and all will be worked out over the next 2-3 weeks.

First week of school. This is perfectly normal until they get it worked out. Although it's been awhile since my kids were in school, it doesn't sound like things have changed a whole bunch. Patuxent High School always got home first. Elementary was always last. But they will probably get home a little earlier once the bus schedule is all worked out.

It's probably a lot easier to do it that way

 Probably. I wonder if he even realized that nobody but him was on the bus.

I agree about getting home earlier once things get worked out. I just find it strange that the driver thought it was perfectly normal to have about 30 kids on the bus one day and zero the next. Even stranger that he went to the schools without any kids on the bus.

An email has been sent to the Transportation Office letting them know about it and they can handle it as they see fit. My kids got to school on time and safely and that's all that matters to me. Hopefully the ones who were at the stops by themselves had somebody to call or go home to get a ride.

My children rode bus #95 last year. He is a great driver and the kids really like him. I def. agree with the others when I say wait it out. They will get it all straightened out.

We also had an issue with our bus (#97) yesterday but they'll get it worked out!

I'm sure that the school looked at him in disbelief also.
My guess is every parent on that run has called, not to mention the office secretary that has to sign the 20 or so late kids in.

I would call transportation and ask for the "correct time" as the time posted must not be correct considering no one caught the bus today.

If it happens more than twice I'd make a formal complaint.

From experience with this EXACT bus and driver. He was NEVER once late or early last year. This man is precisely on-time. There had to have been some major confusion so don't jump the gun unless it happens again.

PES was a mess yesterday, both bus wise and trying to get the kids to their classes.

My kids' bus made a left turn and left our little crea of CRE and left like 30 kids that live behind us - she finally realized her mistake when she got to school and came back around - although it was not until after 9am.

Just another thought here, maybe the bus driver was told to run a different route today? The first week or two are always trying for the bus drivers. Since several others have said that this driver is usually very dependable, I would think there was a mix up somewhere else. Still, like everyone else said, call the transportation office so that they can figure it out!

Sent an email advising them of it.

Even if he was to run a different route today, he should have had kids on the bus regardless. He went to both school empty.

Oh well, it's over with now. My kids are at school (hopefully everyone else's are too) and we'll see about tomorrow. Maybe he'll have an explanation this afternoon.
