Calvert County Trash Services?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Trash Service to come by the house and pick up the trash?
We currently have Calvert Trash. For 20 bucks a month, they pick up the trash one day a week. They used to be twice a week. I seen an add in the paper for Action Trash Service who will pick up trash twice a week for 16.95 a month. I called and they do not do Calvert. St. Marys and Charles county only. :bawl: That is a reasonable cost for good service. So, My search goes on. Looking for twice a week pick up. Anyone know of any other trash service?

We use Calvert Trash also, and it's $76.00 every 3 mos. for once a week pick up. Most of my neighbors use a service called T&S Trash Service, though. They're a few bucks cheaper, but I think still only pick up once a week. It's worth looking into, though - they may offer twice a week pick up.

To each his own...

I always though it was silly to pay someone $5 a week to take my trash away, when each time I go out I pass the dump anyway. I already pay for dump services thru the county taxes.

Oh I agree with you. It is Silly, but trying to talk my wife into putting dirty garbage bags in the back of her new van is futile. One day I plan to get a nice pick up truck and then it would be no problem.

:high5: to your wifey!!

Seriously, I'd just assume go to the dump also, but it's not very convenient for us, and we'd have to go a couple times per week to keep up with it (we're really trashy...) since we don't have a pick 'em up truck.

I don't think any of the trash services in Calvert recycle anything, either. If one does, please post it!

I've never lived anywhere that doesn't have county funded trash pick up. I would gladly pay additional taxes to have it done professionally. It would also save tons of highway litter from poorly packed garbage flying out of someone's truck.

I would bet that if put to a vote, the levy for trash pick up would pass by a landslide, but a lot of trash contractors would be put out of business.

Calvert Trash and T&S don't recycle, and I think it sucks that we don't at least have the option. I had a service when I lived in Lusby that did recycling - they were Enviro...something. Can't remember their name!!

Your right, PF. Enviromental Connections. Bob Chaundy is the owner of it. Real nice guy. He does recycle. His pick up is one day a week as well.

Waste Management has similar prices to Calvert Trash but they have a strict one can rule. :wench: We use Calvert Trash -- they let you put extra cans at the curb for the same price.

I agree with you 110%. Most people who have lived in these here parts their whole lives don't really appreciate the value of trash pick up. I got tired of the "convenience centers" quickly and found someone to pick it up a few months after I moved here. I like it here but I sure do miss the days of twice a week pick up, recycling, leaf pick up, christmas tree pick up, etc. I used to leave some pretty large piles of trash at the end of my driveway and the county would always take it. I think I paid something like $275 a year. Here I pay $110 for the convenience centers. To me, not having to haul the nasty trash 6 miles out of the way and wait in line is well worth the extra $160/year. Maybe if I spent $@20,000 on a truck, it wouldn't be so bad.

I also don't think the contractors would lose out. The county would probably use them to do all the curbside pick up. They would make more money.

Again, to each his own but for those who have never had top notch curbside pick up, you don't know what you're missing.
