It is a 2 acre pond...state of the art wastewater treatment facility. I couldn't get back all the way to see it. They had KEEP OUT signs posted. But a resident of the area stopped and talked to me. He lives back there near where it is. Says it's really cool looking and that they have it gated after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all weekend but you can go back there any other time and they aren't so strict.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out! Seems many folks were finding it "pond-rous"<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm824YYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_11_6.gif' border=0></a>

God, that was so lame...but I couldn't help myself...

I can't believe I didn't look at the SDAT page first. I usually find anything I want to know there.

The hard part was saying..well my friends..okay well..internet people I talk with..friends..uh.. from this forum...well..see..somebody posted a link to this google map thingy...so..uh...well...what is that triangle thing...so since I lived so close, I decided to check it out.

Funny..he looked at me, straight-faced, and said "Oh that, it's a UFO landing site." Then we both cracked up.
Catt.....do you remember ALL of your discussion with this fellow? Was he wearing a plaid long-sleeved flannel shirt and neatly pressed Dickies pants and construction boots (even thogh it's really hot today!)? Was he wearing real dark sunglasses? What would you see over this "pond" at night when the elements of the cosmos are properly aligned? :tap:

Somebody better warn Otter....:yikes:

Why is the Navy maintaining the Solomons Annex? To be on the same side of the river as "the Pond" and the plant at Calvert Cliffs! Sure, the Annex masquerades as a bit of a backwater, but I'll bet it's really the South Gate for the super-secret underground Delta Complex!! 200 square miles of mysterious passages, underground roadways, Hidden Alien Secrets, you name it! No WONDER land is cheaper in Calvert! It's not as thick!!!

You know you can paint a shallow concrete structure and put a few inches of water in it, and it'll look really deep, right? :really:

Oh - wait - I get it. Otter's in on it, too. He CONVENIENTLY went to play golf this morning, leaving you to sleuth your way to the Facility, only to be brainwashed by the alien guard on duty, sent there by Otter to intercept and program you.!! Oh, you poor dear! :poorbaby:

What's under this "pond"? Why the security fence? :twitch: :yikes:

Congrats

Congrats to cattitude for finding this out.

It was really a puzzle to us at the office. My boss even drove down the same road during a recent trip through Calvert and backed out after seeing those signs!

That's still a large facility for a bunch of sh!t. I guess by state of the art they mean it, that facility is large enough to handle all of the counties needs, plus the next few counties!

follow up

And as a follow-up to my original posting, I did ask the question as to why build above ground instead of inground. In the event of a local flood, you don't want waste water mixing with flood water, creating a breeding ground of disease to spread to the population. This design holds the waste water in, even during local floods. Not sure of the height of the walls, but from the sat maps, it looks pretty high.

Thanks catt!
