I hope this information helps. I just called Prince Frederick Radio Shack to see if manager was in. She is the best with these scanners!!!! She is working on it but she too is having problems. She told me to call back this afternoon. I want my scanners for the storms for information!

depending on your scanner, you need to add these frequencies to one of the banks. a lot of times the banks are numbered 0 through 9. on a radioshack scanner if the little cursor is blinking on the correct bank you have calvert information on, you can hit the program button and scroll up or down to enter these new frequencies.

852.18750c

852.25000c

853.35000a
here are some examples of the old frequencies to help you if you're not sure what bank to be in:866.91250, 867.13750, 867.18750, 867.25000, 868.35000

You are great!!! Thank you. Can I ask what the frequencies stand for? 852.25000 I get nothing but static. 853.3500 is transportation. Again, thank you so mush, I really wanted this for the storms. Now later this evening I'll work on my hand held.

There are primary and secondary frequencies. This is getting out of my realm of knowledge, but, this is how I understand it. Let's say someone is on the transportation bus sending important news. The conversation is picked up and repeated on the scanner under a certain frequency. I believe that frequency could change. Then, under the Motorola system, the scanner recognizes the correct "trunk" code for "Transportation". If you hit the trunk button while you're in program mode you should be able to see all the trunk codes.

I just got back in town. I will be looking into this and reprogramming ASAP, but it most likely won't be up until tomorrow night.

I will be doing everything I can to keep the scanner up during the upcoming storm. The scanner itself, the feed computer, and the routers are all on UPS battery backup power, as well as generator backup power. I have alternate meanes of Internet connectivity if the DSL line drops ... It usually lasts about 12 hours into a power outage, based on last year's Isabel experience.

Boy, the timing of this trunking change sux though...

The term you are looking for is "talk group ID's" . These may or may not have changed. The Calvert County radio shop must be busy as a one armed paper hanger... And with a wax event looming, their timing on implementing this change is.... Unfortunate!

Thank you so much! I have both scanners up and going now. Radio Shack in Lexington Park tried to tell me I had to buy digital scanners for the new freq's to work, I'm glad I didn't buy 1! I am up and running in time for the storm, boy did it get quite around the house without them.:dye:

The SOMD Calvert scanner is back online -- sort of. I am working on getting the darn thing reprogrammed for the rebanded frequencies. I will be tweeking it for several days at elast, I am sure. I am trying to add the SMECO frequencies as well.

make sure the freq's are in FM mode, mine where on MO (motorola) and would not scan but work manually, set them to FM, and BINGO!

How do I tell if it is FM or MO? If it is MO, how do I change it to FM? Sorry, just trying to make sure I am good for this storm :)

To answer your question when the freq is programmed it should have an FM or MO next to it. I programmed a friends scanner this morning that was not digital and had to keep it as FM. I talked to Cindy ( I think that was her name) at the radio shack in Dunkirk. She has an absolute wealth of knowledge and is working very hard to find a solution to the newest digital scanner problems.

Just tweaked the scanner programming again. Is much better.... I trimmed out a large batch of marginal freqs that were gumming up the works. I may trim some talk groups later today if the get too lame....

Scanner is working well, however listener slots ore full, last time I checked it was 99 or of 100 available slots. If you can't connect, keep trying, as soon as someone "hangs up" you will be able to connect. You can check slot useage here: http://sc9.mystreamserver.com:8022/ for the Calvert scanner. Reception and programming is working well, been fiddling with the programming a lot today....

I'm in through radio reference, didn't want to take slots from people that live up there and need them.

The RR feed is actually up? That's rare, and due to RR's policies it is a sucky feed, no TAC channels. But good you can get something!
