Damaged Property: 21-26409
On May 18, 2021, DFC Holt responded to the 8900 block of Dayton Ave in North Beach, MD for the report of damaged property. The complainants advised on May 17 sometime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., unknown suspects damaged a wooden deck railing. The estimated value of damaged property is $40.00.
Theft: 21-26333
On May 18, 2021, Deputy Contic met with a complainant in regards to a theft. The complainant advised she parked her vehicle at the Safeway located at 80 W. Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick, MD around 4 p.m. on May 17. Upon returning to her vehicle at approximately 9 p.m., she observed her passenger door was open and upon further review, observed she was missing $27 in U.S. currency, a phone charger, and prescription medication. The estimated value of stolen property is unknown at this time.
Burglary: 21-26573
On May 19, 2021, DFC Rzepkoski responded to the All Saints Episcopal Church located at 100 Lower Marlboro Road in Sunderland, MD for report of a burglary. The complainant advised the maintenance staff was cleaning the office building and discovered a half drunk bottle of Sunny Delight, two opened soup cans, and an empty juice box on the main floor which was deemed suspicious. As staff continued cleaning, they discovered a damaged window with broken panes of glass and a pitchfork nearby on the lower level. It does not appear anything else was tampered with or missing. On May 21, 2021, Deputy Bowlan responded to the Ledo Pizza located at 8416 Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach, MD for report of a burglary. The complainant sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 5:15 a.m., unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry to the business resulting in extensive damage to the front door. The estimated value of damaged property is $650.00.
Theft: 21-26276
On May 17, 2021, DFC Freeland met with a complainant in Lusby, MD for a reported theft. The complainant advised she returned home from Driftwood Beach in the Chesapeake Ranch Estates, Lusby, MD and discovered her backpack had been stolen. The backpack was last seen on a picnic table while the complainant was on the beach. The backpack is described as black with colored hearts. Inside the backpack was a black and red Cool Pad Boost Mobile cell phone and a U.S. assistance card. The value of stolen property is $170.00.
ARRESTS
On May 18, 2021, DFC Freeland responded to the 1200 block of Pinecrest Court in Lusby, MD for a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival, two males were found arguing with each other outside of the residence. Deputies on scene detected a strong odor of an alcohol beverage emitting from their breaths. Both parties were separated and transported to their residences to avoid further conflict. Approximately 30 minutes later, units were dispatched back to Pinecrest Court as Tyree Jamal Johnson, 25 of Lusby, MD had returned to the scene and both males were actively fighting. Johnson was screaming profanities and demanding police units fight him. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct.
On May 18, 2021, Deputy Bowlan responded to the area of Boyd’s Turn Road and 5th Street in Owings, MD to check the welfare of an individual who was attempting to hitch a ride and nearly struck by a vehicle. Deputy Bowlan located a male identified as David Lance Joseph, 41 of no fixed address, walking along 5th Street. Joseph was advised the reason for the stop and during that time became belligerent and failed to comply with commands. Joseph was asked for identification for which he refused to show and remained belligerent while providing false information to the deputy. Joseph was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Obstructing/Hindering and Failure to Obey a Reasonable and Lawful Order.
On May 17, 2021, Deputy Shoemaker was alerted to check the welfare of an individual sitting on the front steps of the Sheriff’s Office located at 30 Church St. in Prince Frederick, MD. Contact was made with Michael Stephen Kubisiak, 29 of Lusby, MD, during which time he became verbally aggressive. Kubisiak continued to make racial slurs to officers. As Kubisiak fled the area, he threw a liquid towards Deputy Shoemaker and onto the deputy’s marked patrol car. Kubisiak was apprehended and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Second-Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Disorderly Conduct and Malicious Destruction of Property- Less than $1,000.
On May 17, 2021, patrol deputies responded to the Shell Gas Station located at 11550 H.G. Trueman Road in Lusby, MD for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed a male suspect entered the establishment brandishing a large kitchen knife and demanded money from the cashier. The victim did not comply; the suspect stole packs of cigarettes instead before fleeing the area on foot. A canvas of the area was conducted by K-9 Reaper and partner DFC Callison who were able to locate clothing articles belonging to the suspect and the knife used in the robbery in a wooded area nearby. Deputy Anderson observed and detained a male matching the description of the robbery suspect exiting a property across from the Shell. The suspect was identified as Anthony Allen Cantrell, 27 of Lusby, MD. Cantrell was apprehended and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he charged with Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, and Theft less than $100.
