Calvert Sheriffs Dept. Accused of Heavy Handed

I welcome questions about law enforcement and think you should question authority when they have done something wrong! Having said that, implying that your local police are making mistakes because other police in other departments are is just unfair. Not every police officer is like the one who wrote the guy a ticket. Not every police department screws up when one other does.

I didn't imply that any local police messed up when I pointed out mistakes elsewhere. I'm trying to point out a possible reason for some of the questions that this case is bringing up. The possibility of armed people busting down your door (even if they are the "good guys") is terrifying to most people. That, coupled with the fact that what police do on a daily basis is a mystery to a lot of folks, is why there's always going to be a lot of questions.

Hopefully more people know how to ask those questions instead of just #####ing about "punk police".

If she doesn't want it to happen again she needs to kick her drug dealing family members out of her house.

I understand. However, some questions can't be answered in great detail. Police business some times can be dangerous. Some times the tactics need to be kept more closely and not discussed publicly. I will assure you though, I have sat in on search warrant briefings in all of the Southern Maryland Counties, to include P.G. and AA. In all of them, there was intel about the residence which was being hit, and someone who is familiar with the criminal activity at the residence pointed the door.

Come to the door during daylight hours wearin a Police uniform and serve the warrant.

So the surprise can be ruined? I think not.

I applaud you, CCS! Next time, use MORE force. Flame throwers, back-hoe, etc...

SWAT movie ramrod?

What was accomplished? I may not be a Mensa but I would have known who was in the house before I busted in. These guys blew it.

So you would waste man power and time to have some observe the house 24/7 and easily be obvious they are doing so?

Wow, what a shocker! So this isn't the first time granny's house was searched for drugs. What a little innocent old lady she must be. :sarcasm:

Dress her up like a dog after shooting her. Innocent mistake by police who thought little old lady was a poodle.

I've had my car stolen

Same here. Found overturned and ditched in the woods. No investigation was done because they count on your insurance to cover it. Great way to send a message to thieves...steal a vehicle, go joyriding, but don't get caught speeding.

I don't have a beef with the local cops but I wish they'd put more time into preventing/solving crimes than writing speeding tickets.

I DO have a problem with no-knock raids for petty amounts of drugs. There's too many cases where it turns out bad for innocent people. Often they use informants who lie out their azz or are so stoned they don't have the correct info. If more time was taken to investigate and confirm facts before gung-ho legal thugs storm into houses they'd get better press.

Oh yeah, & my insurance company tried saying that since there was no evidence they were going to make it my fault. It took a lot of fighting & threatening to sue. & if we had been considered at fault, you better believe CC would have a lawsuit ont their hands. Our lawyer was ready for it. They're lucky my mom went through heck with the insurance company!

& I never said they didn't have a reason to be there. Because yes they did. There was a staged buy. Sure, they had a case-whatever whatever. But the way the whole thing went down was unneccesary. & the fact that all over the search warrant wasn't THAT persons name, address, & the cops lied about identifying him through a picture, because it wasn't the right one! So much of there 'investigation' was BULL! & Before anybody goes into 'oh well they deserved it anyways for selling drugs' that's not what the issue is. It's how they go about raids & investigations. : )

No disrespect but, WTF are you saying here? It is a good chance that you are about the only one that can understand what you wrote!

Well then, they should've arrested him with the drugs on the spot because they didn't find any inside the house.

eerrr in the first section I was talking about when my car was stolen, and then I responded in the second section about the raid situation-if that's what you mean?
I was saying that the cops basically had a staged buy ALONG with their investigation. Meaning the cops set him up, bought drugs from him, & left it alone. About a month later the house was raided. When they showed the search warrant, after the raid was over mind you, it had somebody elses name listed as the suspect (i suppose that would be the word) and their address. Yet in the report it stated that they made a POSITIVE INDENTIFICATION through a picture a conduction a thorough investigation. But they didn't even know who the right person was!

Then I went on to say that I don't want badgering from people saying "they shouldn't be selling drugs.." & BLAH BLAH BLAH. That wasn't the point of my original post, & I don't want anybody to get the wrong idea that i'm saying cops are pigs because they raid peoples houses & bust them with drugs.

& they did find stuff in the house by the way. They charged somebody with marijuana & because there was a gun in the same room they charged them with "trying to ward off other drug dealers" or some insane charge that I couldn't understand because where else would you keep a gun but somewhere that a child couldn't get ahold of..they had no choice. I guess they expected them to keep it in the kitchen on top of the fridge or something:doh:. BUT THATS OFF TOPIC!
