Pam Nkosi of Honeydew, north of Johannesburg, says her daughter was playing with other children when the dog ran into their yard and bit her daughter.

"I feel that the dog is racist. The way it behaved. It shows that it was not familiar with other races."

Nkosi said the dog's owner, Sean Norman, had not come to see the child nor contributed to her medical bills.

NO....

if this happens... it happens because the dog was not socialized enough or correctly with ALL TYPES of people..... color, sex, size...etc. and situations

There are dog that are afraid of men.... women.... kids.... as well..

when the dog is a puppy is the most impressionable time in their life... if they were not exposed to a certain type of person, situation or whatever... could play a large role on how they perceive things as they grow up.

also if the puppy was going thru their fear stage (all puppies will go thru several of these and certain weeks of age) ...and have a bad experience with a certain type of person or situation...then that has been etched into their mind.

This woman doesn't seem to understand what "racist" means.

What she means to say is that the dog has not undergone appropriate diversity training, which I recommend the owner take care of immediately in case the dog ever wants to hold a government position.

I had to sit in the hall during my last diversity training  The instructor asked what would be the best way to divide up into small groups and I suggested by race.

I had a lab-mix rescue dog that was beaten by his former owner. The dog didn't like black men or any man wearing black leather, and he definitely preferred women. I could only make an educated guess at the gender and race of his abuser.

true... :yay:

and this could also have happened with a white male... a female as well

but its not about race.. (not as if you are saying it was )

but that falls under the whole bad experiance deal...

my new dog... is shy when out in public, and more nervous of men... so we are working on the whole trust factor... and is doing well with the positive training.

Yes, I was trying to reiterate what you said albeit poorly. When my girls were young they were a bit overbearing with my cat. They liked to hug her and pet her and squeeze her and dress her up (and name her George). The poor thing finally had enough of that crap and will now only go to son #2 and Joe for affection.

It just goes to show, it really is important the impressions you leave on your pet.

I once had a dog that I thought was racist.

Then I remembered: It was a ####ing DOG.
