My mother is facing a nasty divorce. Can anyone recommend a good divorce lawyer in Calvert County?
Children or no children? This makes a HUGE difference on the case. I just finished a divorce process with no children involved.
Tell your mom to do internet research and represent herself over the next year. It will save her tons of money. In Maryland, she can't do anything for a full year anyway. She can only prepare herself by separating her finances, living arrangements, etc. At exactly one year from now, she can file for divorce at the courthouse.
Lawyers have one speed: SLOW. I have found that they all drag their feet. Plus, while they fully support you in every way, they will meet up with your ex's lawyer for drinks at happy hour after a long day in court. If your mom and her ex fights, the lawyers will win. She needs to give a little and communicate often.
