It is really hard to share a vacation with another family, things have to be well worked out before the vacation even begins as to who does what chores, who pays for what, etc.
Most our children are grown so it is only hubby, myself and our 12 yr old son now.
We let my son take a friend this year, but we knew from experince to be sure we were very comfortable with the friend he chose to take along. It was a very nice vacation, my son had a wonderful time with his friend. But you do have to be very careful who you choose, I believe it best to have each family stay in a cabin, hotel room, tent, rv, etc of their own and just sight see or do activities together.
