So my 2 year old wanted Daddy to jump off the diving board so I could splash her. She thinks its funny. My little one is my world so would jump off a plane to make her laugh. During third attempt I took a bad step felt a pop and now I can't walk. Can only walk on right leg using toes for support. Any attempt at flat footing makes me want to pass out in pain. Any ideas what part of me I screwed up? Its all major calf pain.

Pain is below right knee concentrated in calf area. Very tender to the touch. can't put any weight on right foot unless I am on toes.

You heard a pop? Could be your knee cap has popped out of place. Or could be a number of things? I would surely go see a doc though!

You likely have a strain, which is a pretty broad diagnosis. A strain can be an injury to a muscle or tendon, and could include a connection that was overstretched to completely torn.

Given that you heard a "pop" and that it's so severe, I would venture to say you have suffered some degree of the latter.

One element of the knee that I found as a common problem is the Plantaris muscle (listed there as a tendon). On that one they do mention that if you can walk on and flex your toes you probably do not have an Achilles tear.

I also found this one.

I'd say don't expect it to heal on it's own... see a Dr. ASAP.

:yeahthat:
It may heal on it's own but if it's torn and surgery is needed, a delay could be very bad.

Second opinion: Yes, Dr. Hvp is correct in his diagnosis.

I would have to doubt this one, I have had my knee cap dislocated many times, and the pain is always in the quad. Since your pain is in the lower leg, I would think perhaps the ankle. But then again who knows, if you really are having difficulties walking, I would also say a trip to the doc is needed. For the weekend until you can get seen, make sure you ice it, stay off of it as much as you can, and try and keep it elevated.

Sounds like you have Calf Strain. "A sign of a calf strain is similar to that of an Achilles tendon rupture - you may think you've just been hit in the leg and hear a "pop."

Is it bruising? You should really go to the Doctor's to have it checked and too you need to ice it, keep your leg elevated and take some Motrin.

Its not a knee issue and I felt the pop more than I heard it. Doesn't feel as bad today as it did yesterday unless of course I try to bare my full body weight on it then it makes me want to :faint:

Thanks for all the responses so far.

That's good it's not as bad today, but still sounds like a calf strain - A strain of your calf muscles can occur during a physical activity where you push off forcefully from your toes. It may occur in running, jumping, or lunging.

What are the symptoms?
A calf muscle strain may cause immediate pain in the back of your lower leg. You may hear or feel a pop or a snap.

You should just rest it and stay off of it. Maybe walking around in the pool might help it.

Walking around the pool until my daughter orders daddy to the diving board again!? :lmao: Thanks Gonna make a trip to the hospital and get it checked out. Will let you all know what the results were.

Right now I can only hobble around if I just step using my toes on my right leg. Any attempt to stretch the calf area results in pain that drops me to the knees!!

:lmao: well, I'm sure she doesn't want you out of commission too long. That's good - good luck, I'm sure it's painful because I know how I felt when I sprained my ankle. They may give you crutches if they don't want you to put pressure on it.

You could be surprised. Last night I mentioned the Plantaris muscle as one point of common injury... it's located in the back of the knee, but one feels pain in the calf.

In any case, I think everyone concurs a Dr. visit - possibly even to the ER - is justified.

Thank you. We are heading there in a bit. Civista is just down the road from me.

Oh man, that sounds like what happened to my mom...she slipped and fell, and heard a pop. Went to St. Mary's Hospital, and they said she sprained her ankle. After a month of pain and no healing, she went to an orthopedic doc, and he did an xray. She had completely ruptured her achilles tendon!! St. Mary's had never even x-rayed her! She had to have surgery and it took months of healing. Now she's finally back to normal.

Hope it's not that serious for you!! Good luck!

The popping sound would most likely come from a tendon. I was thinking your achilles, but if your walking today it's not the achilles.

I can walk so long as I don't plant my foot flat on the floor.
