Captain Jons Bakery.....

The soon to be folding Captain John's Bakery, Prince Frederick shopping center, next to O'Galligans, (whatever) is not good. Saturday, noonish we ordered two sliders, one brownie and a sliced chicken salad. The menu looked good.
Well, after about 20 minutes, the sliders, slid into the bag with an overabundance of dripping mayonnaise, one slice of tomato and curled lettuce. The cashier said "we aint made the brownies yet."
After another 15 minutes, the chef said they had'nt made salads yet and it would take about 30-45 minutes to make the chicken. We asked if they had ANY COOKED CHICKEN. Chef's assistant said he had some jerk chicken. Us, "Okay, take a few chunks of that jerk chicken and put it on the salad". "On the salad?" he asked...

I dont imagine the "Captain" was there or has any idea of what happened. But, I dont see the bakery flourishing.

Gents, I can’t find anything “captain” or “bakery” in that plaza — neither in Google maps or searching otherwise. What place are we talking about?

(my personal experience with any business in that plaza is atrocious anyways, so yes, boo hiss — I just want to know what we are communally booing)

Usually when all aspects of a restaurant suck, the person signing the paychecks isn't there at the moment.

It appears Captain Jon had an idea, after apparently being a fireman, to start a sub and bakery restaurant business. Maybe he was the firehouse cook and thought he could use that experience to run a business. Finding out the hard way one needs a passion, and the smarts, to be an entrepreneur.

My experience with the shop was the total opposite! Not only was the staff exceptional and happy to serve, my subs and baked goods were made to perfection! Best subs and baked goods I've had in a LONG time! Not to mention I have already pre-ordered one of their cakes for my Christmas dinner! I had a conversation with Captain Jon himself. They are just getting started therefore, they are aware that there will be bumps along the road. They also staffed experienced employees but also a few young people who've never had a job before. He wants to help the community as best he can with what God has blessed him with. He kept repeating how he's not going to quit no matter how hard it gets! I was notified that the bakery items change from day to day, therefore, depending on what day you come in, "brownies" may not be on the menu. They also have been selling out of a lot of their baked goods fairly quickly according to the Captain. I could believe it because of how many people told me they were going back for more/are repeat customers. One lady came in and bought the whole pan of Blueberry Cinnamon Rolls! Also, why would you turn down such good food for a cheap price? Calvert doesn't have that many choices when it comes to baked goods too so I'm so happy they are open! I believe in this business and commend them for still having the faith to push through during this hard time!

I'm thinking a much better 1st post would have been, "To the OP: I'm sorry you had such a poor experience on your visit. Let us know what we can do better, and let us make it up to you."

Sunny at Bollywood Masala had a knack of taking a complaint (online) and fixing it and then having the original complainer verify that the issue had been fixed.

Why would you go out of your way to slam a new business that has unfortunately had to open in this "climate" we are currently in? Couldn't you have talked to a manager or owner instead of coming on here to bitch about your friggin salad?

I would say that in this climate it is where a business owner would want to shine providing the absolute best in their offerings in order to get the most clientele to pay the bills. No one forced him to open in this "climate". But since he did, he proved his inadequacies and failed basic business minimal standards.

They may not know what the problems are if nobody notifies them. As in a phone call.

True. But a good business owner would have process and procedures already in place not necessitating a need to be notified of anything other than high fives.

Yes but the employees make it a whole different story. Some of these places go thru cooks like running water.
