Captain Kangaroo

Sorry about that chief.
He was preceded in death by Mr. Moose, Tom Terrific, Dancing Bear, Grandfather Clock, Crabby Appleton & Bunny Rabbit. There will be 500 ping pong balls at his funeral. I'll cry when they place the ring of keys on his tombstone.

Seriously, the guy was a great kids entertainer, made you think and laugh. Much better than ANY that followed.

Wow. I grew up with him. Mister Green Jeans, Mister Moose.

Got the theme song in my head now.

I'm sad to see him go. As others mentioned, he was younger than I thought. Of course, when you're 4 years old, 30 seems ancient.

I was a fan of the show, too. Was part of my morning routine before school each day.

With that in mind, I'll risk everyone's wrath and tell a dirty joke:

Q. What do you call Captain Kangaroo's friend when he sees Laetitia Casta in the nude?
A. Mr. Cream Jeans.

I keep hearin' you're concerned about my happiness
But all that thought you're givin' me is conscience I guess
If I was walkin' in your shoes, I wouldn't worry none
While you 'n' your friends are worried about me I'm havin' lots of fun

CHORUS
Countin' flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playin' solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do

Last night I dressed in tails, pretended I was on the town
As long as I can dream it's hard to slow this swinger down
So please don't give a thought to me, I'm really doin' fine
You can always find me here, I'm havin' quite a time

CHORUS

It's good to see you, I must go, I know I look a fright
Anyway my eyes are not accustomed to this light
And my shoes are not accustomed to this hard concrete
So I must go back to my room and make my day complete

CHORUS

Don't tell me I've nothin' to do

Flat Foot Floogey With the Floy Floy....(not sure about the spelling, but I remember it...)

Oh, I just remembered that I AM a celebrity in my own right. :diva: I was on Pic Temple when I was 4 and recited the Pic Temple Creed. (Yeah, I know...who the heck is Pic Temple???)

Well, I was saving that for a day when the board was REALLY boring.

It does bring back really great memories of my buddy, though.
