Car be broked.

I put it off as long as I could, but the clutch was gone. Took the Focus in and had the clutch done on Friday. Bad part is that I HAD to have the car on Sunday, so I had to take it back yesterday to have additional work done. I think the wheel bearings are bad on 1 wheel. Having the shop check that out. The door in the air box that opens/closes to divert the air to the different vents is stuck again. Broke the cable to the dial again when I tried to force the door to move. Since I can't hardly get at it to replace the cable, there is no way I am taking the whole dash apart to do the repair on the door. Getting an estimate on that repair to see if it is worth it, or do I just have defrost for now on.

I have the same problem w/ my Focus and the air vent. Finally broke completely last summer. Too cheap to have it fixed and the air still works okay surprisingly.

I'll let you know what the diagnosis and fees are.

I replaced the cable and switch once already. $35.00 part from Ford. Took <5 minutes to replace. It lasted 6 months or so.

Over all, I am very happy with the car. 135K miles of DC beltway driving. That is very hard on a car. 1 alternator, 1 clutch, 1 wheel bearing and whatever is wrong with the air system is not bad.

Completely agree. I have an automatic but (knock on wood) have had no major problems thus far, and I'm near 120K. The air system problem didn't seem to be a major problem since all I have to do is open the windows and sunroof and I have built in cooling!
