Car On School Roof

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. -- School officials and Nassau County police are trying to figure out how pranksters were able to get a car up to the roof of Plainview-Old Bethpage J.F.K. High School.

However, principal James Murray said damage could have been done to the school. He said those responsible might not be able to attend the prom or take part in graduation ceremonies. He said criminal charges were also possible.

This is a harmless Old School prank. It would have been much better if had actually been the principal's car though.

A variation of this was done at my high school back in the late 70's/early 80's (english teacher told us about it). Seniors put a complete VW Bug in the Senior Courtyard. Only problem was that there was a single story glass hallway seperating the courtyard from the parking lot. All the doors were standard 32" (or thereabout) doors. They never found out who did it or how, but assume that the car was dismantled and lifted over the roof of the hallway into the courtyard and then reassembled. Used a crane to get it out.

We had a teacher in 59 who bought a Fiat 850 the care could be carried anywhere by 4 senior boys, and it was. It was found in the hallway, it was found in the Library, in the gym ,If the place had double doors you could look for the Fiat.
