firebox? death trap car? My car has a pretty high safety rating.
Not if a rear facing baby seat cannot be secured in the rear center position :jameo: Firebox, deathtrap :jameo:

No. 1 year and at least 20 lbs. And actually they are saying as long as they can fit into a rear facing carseat they are safer that way. Why rush it?
I switched my boy to front facing at 9 months old b/c he was too big to fit in the seat rear facing. I did talk with his ped. first and he said he agreed that switching around would be best.

I can't believe no one has suggested the obvious solution. A REAL concerned parent would go and immediately trade that firebox, baby unfriendly death trap car in on a new one.
The government hasn't told them to do that yet.

I am so very blessed
My boy's car seat is directly behind the passenger's front seat of my SUV. Putting the carseat in the middle about killed my back. He's almost 8 months old, 25 pounds and 29 inches long.

I'll bet most of you think I am a horrid mother for not securing him in the middle of the back seat. :ohwell:

I drive a Toyota Avalon. I've heard of a few people having this problem. I'm going to look into other styles of carseats. I had no problem when I used it in the Cirrus I drove while my son was in the seat. :ohwell:

SG,

I am pretty sure that at least in Calvert you can go to the State Police Barracks at any time (maybe even the firehouses too) and have your carseat's checked. They will definately put them in the safest position for you little pigs!!

Did I say that? No...but we try to do our best especially when it comes to our kids. Which, I am sure every parent on this thread does by the way.

:smack: You can't put a baby in a car seat in the front. Children can't ride up front until they're 80lbs and/or 12 yo.

So what does someone with a truck do, if they have no back seat?

I'm guessing that it is legal for a truck. I have friends that have trucks without cabs that seat there kids in the front.
