Car Seats

My daughter is in need of a car seat for her 7 month old son. He is getting too big for the car seat that he currently has. She needs the next size up from the infant carrier carseat. He now weighs 18 lbs. Isn't there some organization that gives mothers carseats, who cannot afford to buy one? Unfortunately, I am not in the position to help her buy one. She has been looking on freecycle also. She is located in the Mechanicsville area. Thanks for any help you all can provide.

you could check with the local police and fire depts, i know some counties in VA give them away for free or very little money but your best bet would be to go to yardsales on Sat. morning and they always have stuff like that for very little money $5-$10.

I'd be leary of buying a used carseat. JMHO

:yeahthat: NEVER buy a used carseat.

Years ago, my parents had 3 car seats, less than 3 months old, and when they were in an accident, the insurance company bought them all new car seats because they said that you can never tell if the accident damaged the seat.
