I beg to differ, married to a selectee here...

The funds are for paying for their training and such, it is not cheap.
Ahh, a fountain of wisdom......a selectee's "spouse" :notworthy

I will be the first to admit, I sure don't have all the answers, but this is one thing I do know. This year there is a "spouse training" that we have attended (I'm told that's a new thing, the Navy is changing), and we were told that selectees will not have any alcohol during training, don't let them have any. Trying to stay away from dehydration...

Spouses crack me up sometimes. I think they are more proud of thier husband's/Wife's rank (E-4, E-7, O-2 whatever) that thier husband/Wife.

They have not allowed alcohol at any intiation activity by selectees or Chiefs since the early 90's. "Spouse training" has been around since the 90's as well. Typically it is a meeting with the CMC where he explains the selectees will be under stress.

It burns me when I see women in the middle of the day, parked in Officer's Parking at the exchange, as if they deserve it.

One time I was at NATTC Millington when I was staff and some lady at the commissary asked if she could go to the head of the line because she was an "Officers wife" I was stupefied. :killingme

I once saw and Admiral get his panties all in a wad because he didn't get head of the line priviledge at the Bank of America on the base at NOB. He walked in like he owned the place and tried to walk right up to a teller. The teller told him to wait in line and too the first class that was next in line. He started huffing and puffing about being an admiral and the bank manager calmly told him that this wasn't a military establishment and his rank did not grant him priviledge here. Every customer was equally important at Bank of America. :lmao:

What about the dudes? :smack:

I personally dislike all those reserved parking spots...If they were reserved for active duty who needed a quick spot to run in and get back to work, that would be different, but for the spouses who meander in and want to check out the newest 'Coach' purses or don't want to cart the case of wine out to their Mercedes, then I think it's insulting.

I had a CO who refused to park in those spots just for principle. They need one for 'duty section'.

Also, I've actually encountered a very hostile Officer's wife at the commissary over a piece of beef...pretty funny stuff.

NO, Spouses do not have any rank, but we do have the right to be proud of what our Spouses have accomplished and be involved in their Career. It's not Spouse Training, but it is a meeting for the Spouses, so they know what to expect. I would never even begin to think that I am something because of my Significant Other's accomplishments, but I do think I have earned the right to be proud of my Significant Other. I did give up all that I had, to follow that person around, and be left alone during deployments.

I do agree with the others who have a grip with the Spouses who take it one step too far and expect special treatment. There is a great number of Wives who think that they wear their Husbands rank. That behavior can be seen on a daily basis.
