Caribbean Travel?

Any recommendations for all-inclusive travel to the Caribbean?

I've been looking at CheapCaribbean.com, but wondering if anything else is out there.

Also, any recommendations on places to stay?

Why not try a cruise? You can find reasonable priced cruises departing from the east coast. Depending on the room style you choose, it can be fairly inexpensive considering all that you are getting. It's room, transportation, food & recreation all together. You still get to experience the ports when you pull in. I think it's a great bang for the buck. YMMV

I thought about it, but don't find the idea of it appealing.

Plus I plan on staying drunk for a week and the bar tab on a cruise can add up quick for 2 people.

Mine was like $800. :jet:

I talked to a friend that went recently that had a $1,000 bar tab. Couple that with limited stops (typically 1-2 stops in FL, no thanks and 2 days at sea) and it's not really appealing to me.

I may do one to Alaska one day, but we'll see.

pick your island and go, why be stuck on a resort, try different reseturants, bars etc...

Its what we like to do, maybe not for everyone.

Have FUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, we will!

That's a nice option. Similar to what we did in Maine summer of last year.

The object of this vacation is to do as little as possible. I want to eat when I want. I want to drink when I want. I want to lay by the beach when I want, I want to lay in bed when I want. I don't want to clean up. I don't want to buy each drink. I don't want to cook.

I've been to the Dominican, Jamaica twice (soon to be 3) and St Lucia. Stayed in all inclusive resorts every time. Anything in particular that you are looking for? Budget?

On Norwegian cruise line they now offer on some cruises a beverage package. You pay a daily tip fee. It comes out to $12.50 per person per day.

The first two guests can enjoy a drink (who are we kidding, drinks) for the whole cruise vacation for free. That's unlimited wine, soda, beer and cocktails priced under $15.

Here's an example of what is available. 7 nights out of Tampa, a balcony room. Hitting the ports of Cozumel, MX; Costa Maya, MX; Belie City, Belize; & Roatan, Honduras. $699 per person. A port hole room is $599 and an inside room is $549. You have to add a tip & tax to these prices. Comes out to around $100 a day per person more or less depending on what you pick.

Years ago I did an all inclusive stay in Cozumel. They had a bar right in the pool. Wade over and get a drink then float on back when you're empty. Needless to day it's too easy to overindulge.

No matter what you choose, have fun. Make sure you bring us back some warm weather.

This is why I didn't really enjoy cruising. I enjoyed hanging out with my friends, but the actual cruise part pretty much sucked and was boring, which is how I ended up with an $800 bar tab. I'd have liked to spend more than a few hours in our ports rather than rush back to icky buffet food and criminally expensive tequila shots.

I've never been to the Caribbean, so nothing in particular. Maybe a few activities, good food is a plus, but as long as I can sit on a beach and drink my face off, that's the place I'm looking for.

Budget is $4k max for 2 people. Airfare included.

Yea, I was looking out of Baltimore so I didn't have to fly anywhere. Those cruises stop in Miami, Port Canaveral, or Key West. I've been to all those places and wouldn't want to port there.

Right now I'm looking at 7 nights in the Bahamas, all inclusive, airfare included for $2,800 for 2 people. I just think by time you factor in the taxes, tips, drinks, airfare, etc. it'll come out to around the same price.

We'll definitely have fun. It's been a rough few months for my wife, hence the goal to not do anything, so I want to take her somewhere out of the country to relax.

We have been to Jamaica 2x and are going back again this year. We stay at the resort "Couples Swept Away". Look it up, you should be able to get 6 nights for your budget including airfare. All I do is eat and drink all day everyday and the beaches of Negril are the best in the Caribbean. Everything is included so no surprise tabs at the end of the trip.

My parents loved it here, though they said it was HOT as hell. I am heading to the Cancun moon palace in April. I can't wait..a full week of unlimited booze, coffee and laying around. I love Cancun because its cheap and the flight is short and cheap. I don't want to arrive jet lagged after a long flight. Couple hours and im there before noon ready to relax

We booked a week vacation in Cancun through Funjet.com. It was all inclusive w/airfair. We stayed at Riu property, one of the newer ones, but you could use all the facilities at the other Riu's as well. We went in May and the weather was freaking awesome!!! 80's everyday, nice breeze off of the water. I'll see if I can find the name of the place and send it to you.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
We are going to Grenada later this year, 7 nights all inclusive. :yay:That was all I had to add to this tread.

I've done Caribbean islands (and others) quite a bit. Nothing though in the last 6-7 years (kids make travel a b!tch). If you do a cruise, you're best bet is to fly to Miami or Puerto Rico. The destinations available to you are far better IMO. Yes, you fly but you get to spend more time on actual land. If you cruise out of Baltimore, you spend far more time at sea and your ultimately ports of call are less impressive. Consider a cruise to the western Caribbean - lots of nice spots with beautiful beaches and excursions.

If looking for a single place to stay, you can't go wrong with a resort. Then again it depends on your scene. Some places are more "party", some are more "laid back." My hands down favorite place has been the Windjammer Resort in St. Lucia. They have their own private beach. You CAN leave the resort but don't have to. The food options are plenty and everything is good. Same with drinks. They have a large pool with a swim up bar and then have a beautiful beach with a tiki bar that serves both drinks and grub. Rooms options are wide ranging. Everything from single room apartments (think hotel) to your own private house/lot.

My wife and I went with a 2 story villa (think townhouse) on the side of the mountain overlooking the sea. Beautiful view. The rooms were open (no windows/just bars) so you could wake up to a bird in your living room. The only room with AC was your bedroom suite. You quickly got used to the heat elsewhere but the AC in the room was steller. We have a private pool on our balcony that actually split between the outside and inside. We'd hit the beach more late mornings/early afternoons (with lunch), come back and lounge in the private pool, usually nap and then head out for dinner/drinks.

It was a great time. Quiet and laid back. Met several nice couples as well. There were kids there but nothing rowdy. I'd say it was a bit more up class (not to sound snobbish) as opposed to a bargain resort where people are there to party. Can't recommend it enough.
